I can\u2019t speak for the quality of the film just yet \u2013 I still haven\u2019t seen it \u2013 but as a far of the\u00a0<em>Happy Death Day<\/em> films, I\u2019m incredibly excited to check this thing out. For now, though, I\u2019ll make do with the\u00a0<em>Freaky<\/em> NYCC panel, which had writer-director Christopher Landon, the film\u2019s stars, <strong>Vince Vaughn<\/strong>, <strong>Kathryn Newton<\/strong>, <strong>Celeste O\u2019Connor<\/strong>, and <strong>Misha Osherovich<\/strong>, talking about what\u2019s in store.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Freaky_Friday_NYCC\"><\/span><strong>Freaky Friday NYCC\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Get Your Freaky On - Inside Blumhouse&#039;s New Body-Swap Slasher\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ddTYoDT05FM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->In\u00a0<em>Freaky<\/em>, \u201cHigh school student Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton) becomes the newest target of the Blissfield Butcher (Vince Vaughn), an infamous serial killer, during her senior year. When the killer\u2019s magic dagger causes her to swap bodies with him, Kessler discovers she has only a day to reverse the switch or else remain trapped as a middle-aged murderer hunted by the city, while the real killer \u2013 in her body \u2013 targets her classmates at Homecoming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a great premise, and one thing is clear from this NYCC panel \u2013 the movie is bound to be fun. In discussing the impetus of the project, director Christopher Landon revealed that co-writer Michael Kennedy brought the idea to him as a practice pitch. Kennedy first said the title was\u00a0<em>Killer Body<\/em>, but then described the idea as \u201c<em>Freaky Friday the 13th<\/em>,\u201d which im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely stopped Landon in his tracks. \u201cIt just worked,\u201d the filmmaker said.<\/p>\n<p>The premise requires Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton to play characters who swap bodies, and while the NYCC panel tried to get the actors to open up on how they went about playing each other, the most Vaughn and Newton would offer was that they worked on building their own characters and took it from there. A big key to making it work, though, was keeping things \u201cgrounded\u201d so that the audience would buy into what was going on.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, there was lots of talk about a playful set, with the actors working out their characters in between takes. The panel even showcased some behind-the-scenes footage of the actors working out ideas just before they shot specific scenes.
