“#Terror charges for 6 of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer\u2019s alleged plotters<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Six of the seven men accused in state court of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer were arraigned Friday night on terror charges, the state attorney general<\/a> announced.<\/p>\n

The men face a total of 19 state felony charges filed by Attorney General Nessel after they allegedly planned and trained for months to attack the state Capitol building and kidnap Whitmer in protest of the coronavirus restrictions she had imposed on the state.<\/p>\n

The seventh suspect is awaiting extradition to Michigan.<\/p>\n

The suspects are accused of being associates of the shadowy militia group the Wolverine Watchmen.<\/p>\n

They allegedly hoped to instigate a civil war, and called on fellow members to identify the home addresses of law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

Some of the men allegedly surveilled Whitmer\u2019s vacation home in August and September, according to an FBI affidavit, and planned to meet Wednesday to \u201cmake a payment on explosives and exchange tactical gear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whitmer, who had known about the threats against her, had to be \u201cmoved around\u201d multiple times with her family as authorities tracked the offenders, Nessel said earlier Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was aware of things that were happ<\/a>ening,\u201d Nessel said on \u201cCBS This Morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt times, she and her family had been moved around as a result of activities that law enforcement was aware of.\u201d<\/p>\n

The six suspects arraigned Friday are Shawn Fix, 38; Eric Molitor, 36; Pete Musico, 42; Joseph Morrison, 26; Michael Null, 38 and William Null, 38.<\/p>\n

Paul Bellar, 21, the seventh state-charged suspect, is being extradited from South Carolina.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey had all the means to do it. They had been in training exercises. We think they had the necessary equipment \u2014 artillery, explosives, things of that nature,\u201d Nessel added during hear CBS appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we thought the trainings had gone on long enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ths state terrorism charges against the seven men carry a possible 20-year sentence.<\/p>\n

But another six face life in prison on federal charges.<\/p>\n

In all, thirteen suspects were arrested.<\/p>\n

Whitmer on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d Friday referred to the group as a \u201cdomestic terror organization\u201d and blamed President Trump for fostering such behavior with his rhetoric and relentless attacks against her and her COVID-19 policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is ongoing rhetoric,\u201d she said on the program.<\/p>\n

She referenced tweets the president posted Thursday night, in which he slammed her for doing a \u201cterrible job\u201d combatting the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven the president last night in his tweetstorm won\u2019t stop attacking me,\u201d she added, \u201cand I think that it\u2019s creating a very dangerous situation \u2014 not just for me but for people in leadership roles who are trying to save lives all across this country.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
