Or, you could just disable the Bing integration in the Start Menu.<\/p>\n<p><em>Update<\/em>: We now have a solution that works in Windows 10\u2019s May 2020 Update. In our experience, this also disables <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/microsoft\/windows-10-start-menu-promo-for-microsoft-edge-cant-be-disabled\/\">the Microsoft Edge advertisements<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear when you search for Chrome in Windows 10\u2019s Start menu.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that Android\u2019s default search and even iOS will also send your search results to their servers to try and get more relevant results\u2014but somehow it seems different when you\u2019re on your personal computer in your house trying to search through your personal files.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re definitely glad that they included a way to easily disable the web integration\u2014it\u2019s just worth noting that if you want to use Cortana, you don\u2019t have any choice in whether the Start Menu uses Bing, so you\u2019re going to have to disable Cortana to disable the web integration.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Disable_Bing_in_the_Start_Menu_in_Windows_10s_May_2020_Update\"><\/span>How to Disable Bing in the Start Menu in Windows 10\u2019s May 2020 Update<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Starting with Windows 10\u2019s May 2020 Update, there\u2019s a new registry setting that controls this option.\u00a0 You must edit the Windows registry to disable web searches in the Start menu.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s our standard warning: The Registry Editor is a powerful tool and making the wrong change can make your system unstable or even inoperable. This is a straightforward change and, if you follow the instructions, you should be fine. But if you\u2019ve never used it before, consider reading about how to use the Registry Editor.\u00a0We always recommend backing up your Registry (and your computer) before making changes.<\/p>\n<p>To start, open the Registry Editor by clicking Start and typing \u201cregedit\u201d. One file disables web searching from the Start Menu, and the other file will re-enable web searches. Both are included in the following zip file, and each just functions by changing the values we demonstrated how to change above. Double-click the one you want and click through the prompts.<\/p>\n<p>Download Disable Bing in Start Menu hacks<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Disable_Bing_Integration_in_the_Start_Menu_the_Old_Way\"><\/span>How to Disable Bing Integration in the Start Menu, the Old Way<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: These instructions apply to older versions of Windows 10, including the November 2019 Update, the May 2019 Update, and the October 2018 Update.<\/p>\n<p>To start, open the Registry Editor by opening the Start menu, typing \u201cregedit\u201d, and pressing Enter. The number in the \u201cValue data\u201d box should already be 0\u2014just ensure it\u2019s still 0. If you search your start menu, you should now see only local results. The change should be immediate\u2014if it isn\u2019t and you still see Bing results in your Start menu, restart your PC.<\/p>\n<p>Download Web Search Override Files (older versions of Windows 10 only)<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Disable_Bing_in_the_Start_Menu_the_Really_Old_Way\"><\/span>How to Disable Bing\u00a0 in the Start Menu, the Really Old Way<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Update<\/strong>: Microsoft removed this easy graphical option from Windows 10\u2019s Anniversary Update. Even if you\u00a0turn Cortana off with a registry or Group Policy tweak, Windows 10 won\u2019t disable web searches in the Start menu. You can, however, make the Start menu search Google instead of Bing, if you want.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>How to Make Cortana Search with Google and Chrome Instead of Bing and Edge<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Luckily Bing is really easy to disable, and you\u2019ll just need to get to the Cortana search settings screen \u2014 the easiest way to do this is to type \u201ccortana settings\u201d into the Start Menu and choose the \u201cCortana &amp;
