\n Jason Voorhees is still alive \u2014 at least in Stephen\u00a0King\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n

The author recently said he\u2019s mulled writing a novel from the perspective of Voorhees, the seemingly immortal slasher character from the \u201cFriday the 13th\u201d horror film franchise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best novel idea I never wrote (and probably never will) is I JASON,\u201d King tweeted Sunday.<\/p>\n

The \u201cfirst-person narrative\u201d would follow Voohees\u2019 \u201chellish fate\u201d of having to be killed at Camp Crystal Lake over and over again, only to be resurrected each time, King wrote.<\/p>\n

The character was born in 1980, with director Sean S. Cunningham\u2019s original \u201cFriday the 13th\u201d movie.<\/p>\n

It was followed by 11 sequels, most recently a 2009 remake by the same name, starring Jared Padalecki and Derek Mears as Voohees.<\/p>\n

That flick included part of Voohees\u2019 origin story, but the 72-year-old novelist\u2019s idea would be told exclusively from the iconic villain\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n

Horror fans shouldn\u2019t cheer just yet.<\/p>\n

King followed up that \u201cJust thinking about the legal thicket one would have to go through to get permissions makes my head ache. And my heart, that too. But gosh, shouldn\u2019t someone tell Jason\u2019s side of the story?\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, the writer added that \u201cBlumhouse could do it as a movie,\u201d referring to the production company behind horror films like \u201cParanormal Activity,\u201d \u201cThe Purge\u201d and \u201cHalloween.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pitch has already gained some online support, with comedia<\/a>n Patton Oswalt tweeting: \u201cI want this novel RIGHT NOW.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
