the start of the holiday shopping season.<\/p>\n<p> In its first Prime Day forecast, eMarketer expects sales of $9.91 billion, with U.S. sales coming in at $6.17 billion. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Amazon<br \/>\n        AMZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210331248\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+3.01%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       Prime Day will take place on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14. It\u2019s usually a summertime event, but was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite an uncertain economy, consumers will continue to spend heavily on e-commerce and actively seek deals heading into the holiday season,\u201d eMarketer wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon typically doesn\u2019t disclose sales numbers for the Prime Day event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong>  Online grocery sales will skyrocket but margins take a hit, analysts say<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan analysts are projecting revenue of about $7.5<br \/>\nbillion this year, up from its forecast of $5.3 billion last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImportantly, we believe Amazon stands to benefit from an<br \/>\nearlier start to holiday shopping, with Prime Day representing \u2018good\u2019<br \/>\npull-forward that helps smooth demand through 4Q,\u201d JPMorgan said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect the shift online to further accelerate this<br \/>\nholiday season and Amazon enters its busiest quarter already seeing heavy<br \/>\ndemand and delivery times not yet normalized to pre-COVID-19 levels.\u00a0But<br \/>\nwe believe Amazon is well positioned to handle the holiday surge, with the<br \/>\ncompany increasing warehouse square footage 50%\u2014including opening 100 new<br \/>\noperations buildings in September\u2014and Amazon Logistics (AMZL) set to deliver<br \/>\nmore than 50% of all packages from Amazon fulfillment centers, thereby reducing<br \/>\ndependence on third-party shippers.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>JPMorgan rates Amazon stock overweight with a price target<br \/>\nof $4,050.<\/p>\n<p>One of the benefits to pushing back Prime Day to a period<br \/>\ncloser to the holiday season is that shoppers will be looking to purchase for<br \/>\nthemselves as well as for gifts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRetail therapy during COVID has been real, and consumers will likely indulge in products they will use now: electronics, kitchen <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>liances, and desk\/office products,\u201d said Greg Portell, head of global consumer industries and retail at global management consulting firm Kearney.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See: <\/strong> Barbie could be queen of the holiday season with analysts upbeat about Mattel and Hasbro <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe anticipate a lift in at-home or cold<br \/>\nweather activities, toys, and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s, as consumers consider how they can stay<br \/>\nentertained throughout the season, while apparel sales outside of athleisure<br \/>\nwill likely trail last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon released a new lineup of its Echo smart speakers and other devices late last month, which should also give the e-commerce giant a boost.\u00a0Amazon has said after past Prime Days that Echo speakers were bestsellers.<\/p>\n<p>The company could also ring up sales from a new<br \/>\ndemographic of shoppers who have turned to e-commerce during COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore the pandemic, the e-commerce story seemed clear: It was geared towards younger, tech savvy generations and focused on specific, delivery-friendly categories, like electronics and clothing,\u201d said Pedro Palandrani, research analyst at ETF provider Global X<br \/>\n        EBIZ,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/201703903\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.48%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span>\n       <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, post-pandemic, older generations<br \/>\nrealized that online shopping was not only a viable option for many of their<br \/>\nneeds, but also convenient and safe. With seniors increasingly utilizing the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> at much higher than expected rates, the trajectory for e-commerce\u2019s<br \/>\ngrowth now looks quite different than it did just a few months ago. For Prime Day,<br \/>\nthis means a larger number of new customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other retailers have also jumped on Prime Day to drive their own sales. This year, for example, Target Corp.<br \/>\n        TGT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207799045\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.14%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       is hosting Deal Days on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14 as well.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Also:<\/strong> Target to host Deal Days shopping event during Amazon Prime Day <\/p>\n<p>Bank of America expects holiday comparative sales growth of 2.2%, compared with 2.7% growth last year. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis holiday,\u00a0the\u00a0continued shift\u00a0online\u00a0could pressure margins,\u00a0but most retailers plan to start the holiday season earlier and push store pick-up to mitigate surcharges and ease\u00a0traffic pressure during peak times,\u201d analysts wrote. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmazon\u2019s Prime Day\u00a0is shifting\u00a0to Oct\u00a013-14 this year (vs. July prior)\u00a0to kick off the holiday shopping season. Most stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, and Black Friday will\u00a0not\u00a0include the usual doorbusters due to safety and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> distancing measures.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Bank of America calls Target, Coach parent Tapestry Inc.<br \/>\n        TPR,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207417762\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.80%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Bed Bath &amp; Beyond Inc.<br \/>\n        BBBY,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209801102\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.37%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       its top choices for the holidays.  Analysts think Target\u2019s merchandise selection in \u201chigh-demand categories\u201d will give it an edge. Tapestry will see earnings upside due to \u201cstabilizing sales and margin improvement.\u201d And Bed Bath &amp; Beyond is benefitting from a quicker-than-expected turnaround, led by Target vet Mark Tritton, currently the home retailer\u2019s chief executive, analysts say. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t miss:<\/strong>  Bed Bath &amp; Beyond turnaround under way, but analysts say outside forces are also giving the company a boost <\/p>\n<p>Bank of America rates all three retailers buy. <\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s price target was raised to $3,800 from $3,675 at Benchmark on Wednesday, which rates the company\u2019s stock buy. <\/p>\n<p>Amazon shares were up 2% in early Wednesday trading, and have soared 71% for the year to date. The Amplify Online Retail ETF<br \/>\n        IBUY,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/206522380\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.39%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       has gained 80.6% for 2020 so far.
