\n Texas Republicans have won the latest round in an ongoing court battle over ballot boxes in the state.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, a federal app<\/a>eals court granted a temporary stay that let\u2019s stand Republican Gov. Greg Abbott\u2019s controversial one-box-per-county directive, at least for now.<\/p>\n

Abbott\u2019s directive \u2014 which hits hardest sprawling Harris County, home to 5 million people, including residents of Houston \u2014 will continue to be hashed out in the courts as the presidential election looms.<\/p>\n

Harris County lost 11 ballot drop-off sites under Abbott\u2019s directive.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, a lower court had blocked the order, which had shuttered dozens of mail ballot drop-off sites weeks before the November election.<\/p>\n

Democrats and voting rights groups are pushing to allow county officials to accept hand-delivered mail-in ballots at any county annex or satellite office, CNN has reported<\/a>.\n <\/div>\n
