{"id":87054,"date":"2020-10-12T02:37:40","date_gmt":"2020-10-11T23:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/three-plays-sum-up-how-low-jets-have-fallen\/"},"modified":"2020-10-12T02:37:40","modified_gmt":"2020-10-11T23:37:40","slug":"three-plays-sum-up-how-low-jets-have-fallen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/three-plays-sum-up-how-low-jets-have-fallen\/","title":{"rendered":"#Three plays sum up how low Jets have fallen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Three plays sum up how low Jets have fallen<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n                        Three plays on Sunday provided perfect metaphors for the Jets 2020 season.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The most egregious (and insulting) of the three came in the third quarter of the Jets\u2019 30-10 loss to the Cardinals at MetLife Stadium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They\u2019d just cut the Arizona lead to 17-10 and the Cardinals faced a fourth-and-1 from their own 39-yard line \u2026 and they went for it.<\/p>\n<p>Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, sucking the Jets defense in with a play-action fake, floated a pass to tight end Darrell Daniels for a 31-yard gain. Six plays later, the Cardinals took a 24-10 lead and might as well have flipped Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams the bird along the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was shocked that they went for it,\u2019\u2019 Jets linebacker Avery Williamson said. \u201cI figured they might hard-count it and not snap it. But \u2026 that definitely was a tough one. I thought we were going to get off the field right there.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinals going on a fourth down from their own territory moments after the Jets had just gotten to within a touchdown of the lead can be read no other way than this: They had zero respect for or fear of the Jets.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16437143\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone aligncenter\"><img class=\"size-nypost-large-desktop-uncropped wp-image-16437143 lazyload\" alt=\"Cardinals\" width=\"659\" height=\"441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets059CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets059CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets059CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets059CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=659 659w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets059CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1318 1318w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 659px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span>Neville Hewitt tackles Darrell Daniels after Daniels caught a pass on 4th and 1.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Charles Wenzelberg\/New York Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>No one does.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The second of the three demoralizingly symbolic plays came in the second quarter when the Jets offense, in the throes of one of its best drives of the season, failed to convert on fourth-and-1 from the Arizona 13-yard line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jets running back Le\u2019Veon Bell, in the lineup after missing three <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s with a hamstring injury, was stoned for no gain one play after head coach Adam Gase opted to hand the ball off to tight end Trevon Wesco \u2014 who had one career rush for 2 yards on his r\u00e9sum\u00e9 entering the game \u2014 on third-and-1.<\/p>\n<p>The failed fourth down wasted an impressive drive that had gone 14 plays and 79 yards and instilled some hope that their struggling offense might have found a rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>When asked how much blame should be placed on the offensive line on that debilitating red-zone stall, Jets right tackle George Fant sounded like he had peanut butter caught in his throat, finally answering after a long pause: \u201cUm \u2026 I\u2019m not sure, man. We just have to keep doing better.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Wrong answer.<\/p>\n<p>The right answer: \u201cThat\u2019s on us.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>That answer never came.<\/p>\n<p>Accountability anyone?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure it was a pretty big turning point,\u2019\u2019 Fant said.<\/p>\n<p>Except there aren\u2019t a lot of turning points in games when one team has little or no chance to win, which is the case with the Jets, who\u2019ve lost six of the 21 games coached by Gase by 20 or more points and 11 of them by double digits.<\/p>\n<p>For the Jets offense, the red zone is a dead zone. They entered the game having scored just two touchdowns in nine red-zone <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>s this season, the worst percentage in the NFL (22.2), and went 1-for-3 on Sunday. They\u2019ve have scored six offensive touchdowns in five games this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve played five weeks now and we haven\u2019t won a game, so you can guess what the level of frustration is in the locker room,\u2019\u2019 quarterback Joe Flacco, who was playing for the injured Sam Darnold, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not playing complementary football on offense,\u2019\u2019 Gase said. \u201cIt\u2019s just too much for us to overcome.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perhaps the most metaphoric play of the game came on the last play of the first half and it had nothing to do with the final outcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jets receiver Jamison Crowder fielded a kickoff at the goal line, took a few tentative steps forward and laid down on the turf without being tackled, waiting to be officially touched down by the oncoming Cardinals coverage team to end the first half.<\/p>\n<p>Crowder surrendered.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16437140\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone aligncenter\"><img class=\"size-nypost-large-desktop-uncropped wp-image-16437140 lazyload\" alt=\"Jets\" width=\"661\" height=\"441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets086CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets086CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets086CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets086CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=661 661w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/101120Jets086CW.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1322 1322w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 661px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span>The Jets and injured quarterback Sam Darnold sit on the bench.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Charles Wenzelberg\/New York Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is, in no way, meant to be a knock on Crowder, who\u2019s been one of the few consistent producers on a Jets team bereft of them and was the best player on the field for them Sunday with six receptions for 116 yards and their only touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>The kickoff came on the final play of a first half the Jets were trailing 17-3 and Crowder had as much a chance of taking it to the house as Rich Kotite has of replacing Gase once he\u2019s eventually fired after the season.<\/p>\n<p>When you have no hope, you surrender.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the sad state of the 2020 Jets: Their ineptitude is <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roaching Kotite-ian calamity.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the Jets started a season 0-5 happened to be 1996, Kotite\u2019s second of two seasons coaching the Jets, when they finished 1-15.<\/p>\n<p>An 0-16 finish looks to be firmly on the table right now.
