And as the title implies, there\u2019s a big horror twist. A new teaser trailer has arrived, and this show looks like a must-see. Probably not much \u2013 maybe except for otherworldly creatures that could tear them limb from limb. <em>Lovecraft Country<\/em>, which is based on author <strong>Matt Ruff<\/strong>\u2018s 2016 novel, stacks the deck against its protagonists by forcing them to encounter both of these dangers. And even though its story is fictional and set more than sixty years ago, it certainly looks like the show has plenty to say about the state of America in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonathan Majors<\/strong>, who recently delivered an incredible performance in the indie film <em>The Last Black Man in San Francisco<\/em> (now streaming on Amazon Prime Video if you haven\u2019t seen it), leads an excellent cast which includes <strong>Jurnee Smollett<\/strong> (<em>Birds of Prey<\/em>), <strong>Michael Kenneth Williams<\/strong> (<em>The Wire<\/em>), <strong>Courtney B. Vance<\/strong> (<em>American Crime Story<\/em>),\u00a0<strong>Wunmi Mosaku<\/strong> (<i>Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them<\/i>), <strong>Aunjanue Ellis<\/strong> (<i>When They See Us<\/i>), <strong>Jamie Harris<\/strong> (<i>Kingdom<\/i>), <strong>Abbey Lee<\/strong> (<i>Mad Max: Fury Road<\/i>); <strong>Jamie Chung<\/strong> (<i>Once Upon a Time<\/i>), and <strong>Jordan Patrick Smith<\/strong> (<i>Vikings<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Misha Green<\/strong>, the co-creator of the WGN America series <em>Underground<\/em>, is the showrunner on this show, and <strong>Bill Carraro<\/strong>, <strong>Yann Demange<\/strong>, <strong>Daniel Sackheim<\/strong>, and <strong>David Knoller<\/strong> executive produce alongside Abrams and Peele. Demange (<em>\u201971, White Boy Rick<\/em>) directed the pilot, Sackheim (<em>True Detective<\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em>) directed the next two episodes, and <strong>Victoria Mahoney<\/strong>, the first woman to ever serve as a second-unit director on a live-action <em>Star Wars<\/em> property, also co-directs an episode later in the season.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the show\u2019s official synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Based on Matt Ruff\u2019s novel of the same name,\u00a0<i>Lovecraft Country <\/i>follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he meets up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams).
