Peninsula<\/em><\/strong> is making the stop to VOD much earlier than anticipated.\u00a0Yeon Sang-ho<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0Train to Busan<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0follow-up is set to be available on Digital on October 27<\/strong>, just before Halloween. The\u00a0Peninsula<\/em> VOD debut is set a month before it heads to\u00a04K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD in November.<\/p>\n

Earlier this summer, film distributor Well Go USA made the odd decision of releasing\u00a0Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula\u00a0<\/em>in U.S. theaters in August, limiting an already small audience for the highly anticipated follow-up to\u00a0Yeon Sang-ho\u2019s acclaimed 2016 zombie thriller. But, just in time for spooky season, Well Go has set a surprise October video-on-demand release for\u00a0Peninsula<\/em>. Bloody Disgusting<\/a> reports that\u00a0Peninsula<\/em> will be available on Digital in the U.S. on October 27, making the zombie blockbuster the perfect Halloween weekend watch.
\nThe video on demand release is slated to arrive a month ahead of\u00a0Peninsula<\/em>\u2018s already-announced\u00a04K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD debut on November 24<\/strong>, 2020<\/strong>. It will also head to streaming soon enough, with Shudder set to debut the film on its horror service in 2021, where it will join all three movies<\/a> of Yeon\u2019s loose trilogy, including the animated\u00a0Seoul Station<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Though it was considered by many critics to be a disapp<\/a>ointing follow-up to the modern zombie classic that is Train to Busan<\/em>,\u00a0in my review I called\u00a0Peninsula<\/em>\u00a0\u201ca loud, over-the-top action flick completely removed from the emotional core that made\u00a0Train to Busan<\/em>\u00a0an unexpected success. But for all its cartoony gore and gaudy imagery,\u00a0Peninsula<\/em>\u00a0does at least fulfill its goal of being\u00a0Mad Max: Fury Road<\/em>\u00a0with zombies.\u201d While it doesn\u2019t reach the heights of\u00a0Train to Busan<\/em>, or really of the George Miller apocalyptic action movie it\u2019s trying to emulate,\u00a0Peninsula<\/em> is a solidly entertaining zombie flick that doesn\u2019t take itself too seriously.<\/p>\n
