Or, at least, as big of a big shot as a kid detective could be. When he was younger, he set up his own mini-detective agency and solved mini-mysteries, to much acclaim. Now, however, he\u2019s a bored, sad-sack adult, pining for his days of youthful glory. He\u2019s still a detective, albeit a less enthusiastic one, working lame, easy-to-solve cases. And then a\u00a0<em>real<\/em> mystery falls into his lap. Watch\u00a0<strong><em>The\u00a0<\/em><em>Kid Detective<\/em><\/strong> trailer below.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Kid_Detective_Trailer\"><\/span><strong>The Kid Detective Trailer\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE KID DETECTIVE - Official Trailer (HD) - In Theaters October 16\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KEyiKNXsVGo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->In\u00a0<em>Kid Detective<\/em>, \u201cA once-celebrated kid detective, now 31, continues to solve the same trivial mysteries between hangovers and bout of self-pity. Until a na\u00efve client brings him his first \u2018adult\u2019 case \u2013 to find out who brutally murdered her boyfriend.\u201d This sounds somewhat similar to the criminally underseen\u00a0<em>Mystery Team<\/em>, albeit with a darker edge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam Brody<\/strong> is the former kid detective, and I\u2019ll confess right now that I\u2019m not up-to-date on the work of Mr. Adam Brody. I only really know him from a memorable supporting turn in\u00a0<em>Thank You For Smoking<\/em>, and, more recently, his scene-stealing work in the excellent\u00a0<em>Ready or Not<\/em>. He definitely has that \u201cI\u2019m hiding my crushing misery with dry humor\u201d thing down pat, so this seems like a good role for him.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Brody, the\u00a0<em>Kid Detective<\/em> cast includes<strong>\u00a0Sophie N\u00e9lisse<\/strong>, <strong>Tzi Ma<\/strong>, <strong>Wendy Crewson<\/strong>, and <strong>Sarah Sutherland<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Evan Morgan\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>The Dirties<\/em>) writes and directs the pic. Brody told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/movies\/adam-brody-kid-detective-exclusive-trailer\/\">EW<\/a> that his character in\u00a0<em>Kid Detective<\/em> is a \u201cself-absorbed and somewhat pathetic sleuth.\u201d He added: \u201cHe\u2019s obviously stunted. There\u2019s unexamined trauma there. In detective stories there are archetypes. There\u2019s the sleuth, the boozy sleuth, the down-on-his-luck sleuth, but then there\u2019s also [Abe].\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Kid Detective\u00a0<\/em>played at TIFF this year \u2013 sort of. It was part of the\u00a0Industry Selects titles \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> that\u00a0<em>would<\/em> have played at certain venues if TIFF had the festival run normally this year. But the coronavirus caused the fest to be mostly virtual, and I don\u2019t remember hearing much buzz about this flick while the festival was ongoing. And there are zero reviews of it over at Rotten Tomatoes, even though there are a few reviews of the film floating around the web. Make of that what you will!<\/p>\n<p><em>The Kid Detective<\/em> is apparently opening in theaters on<strong> October 16<\/strong>, <strong>2020\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 which is\u00a0this Friday.
