{"id":88683,"date":"2020-10-14T05:20:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T02:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/father-daughter-duo-rebrands-bedford-magazine-doubles-ad-pages\/"},"modified":"2020-10-14T05:20:49","modified_gmt":"2020-10-14T02:20:49","slug":"father-daughter-duo-rebrands-bedford-magazine-doubles-ad-pages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/father-daughter-duo-rebrands-bedford-magazine-doubles-ad-pages\/","title":{"rendered":"#Father-daughter duo rebrands Bedford magazine, doubles ad-pages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Father-daughter duo rebrands Bedford magazine, doubles ad-pages<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/bedford-and-new-canaan-magazine.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        In a rare success story in the midst of the pandemic, a father-daughter team took over a tiny magazine named after Martha Stewart\u2019s hometown of Bedford, NY, and doubled its ad-page count in the first issue.<\/p>\n<p>The buyer of the magazine, simply called Bedford, is Michael Kaplan, who has long been active in the commercial real estate world around Westchester.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe housing market is booming,\u201d Kaplan explained of his success with the former TownVibe <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> holding, which he renamed <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bedfordnewcanaanmag.com\/\">Bedford and New Canaan Magazine<\/a> because it now covers towns in Westchester and Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was possible due to the pandemic, which squashed efforts to sell TownVibe to Hearst\u2019s Connecticut <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>paper group, sources said. Instead, Geoffrey Morris, the founder of TownVibe \u00adMedia, sold each of seven magazines individually, and when Kaplan, who had been writing for Bedford, heard about it, he jumped in with an offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI bought after doing due diligence for four days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kaplan brought in as a partner his daughter Casey, who was working for a tech company in New Orleans that was slowing due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe joined as president,\u201d said Kaplan. \u201cI bought, she came in to run, and we\u2019re off to the races.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first issue of Bedford and New Canaan was the September\/October issue, which just hit with 48 ad pages, double the previous issue, across 108 pages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReal estate and home ads are driving it,\u201d said Kap\u00adlan, who took the title of publisher. \u201cThe dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointments so far are restaurants, which we think will come back eventually \u2014 and auto dealerships since many of them now .\u2009.\u2009. don\u2019t buy local print.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also tapping into local talent to help run the mag. Jill Brooke, who runs Flower Power Daily, joined as floral editor while Joyce Corrigan, a veteran of Marie Claire, has been tapped as style editor. Sue De Chiara, who runs the website The Zhush, is now home-and-decor editor.<\/p>\n<p>Kaplan once took over the former Monticello Airport and converted it into the Monticello Motor Club, a private, member-supported racetrack for sports-car buffs to race their own Ferraris, McLarens and Maseratis.
