Welcome to Anime<\/a> on Rails! For the uninitiated (which should be most of you), Anime on Rails was a project I started back before I wrote for Anime Trending where I talk about trains and rail transportation in anime. Sometimes I\u2019ll talk about real-world influences on fictional train design (like the armored train in <\/span>Castle in the Sky<\/span><\/i>) or trains featured in anime film and television (such as the Hida Limited Express in <\/span>Your Name<\/span><\/i>). Other times, I\u2019ll just use the mere app<\/a>earance of a train in a show to talk about real-world railroading.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And with that, let\u2019s jump right in! This season, we have a weekly anime short called <\/span>Rail Romanesque<\/span><\/i>. Based on the visual novel <\/span>Maitetsu<\/span><\/i>, the world of <\/span>Rail Romanesque<\/span><\/i> has the existence of \u201cRailords,\u201d control units paired with specific locomotives and trains. I think it\u2019s similar to the mental models in <\/span>Arpeggio of Blue Steel<\/span><\/i>. I haven\u2019t read the visual novel, so that\u2019s about all I know about the series<\/a>, but it\u2019s about trains and cute girls, so what\u2019s not to like?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Today, we have our first character focus, the \u201cleader\u201d of our group of Railords, Suzushiro!<\/span><\/p>\n
