If you\u2019ve upgraded your TV over the last couple of years, it\u2019s likely to be relatively thin, have a 4K resolution display, and packed to the gills with features like HDR, Dolby Vision, and more.<\/p>\n<p>But unless you paid extra for a bundle that included audio equipment, you\u2019ve probably noticed that the built-in speakers are lackluster and possibly even muffled as they aren\u2019t pointing out towards you while watching the television.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the Roku Streambar. Plug the 14-inch side soundbar into the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/305241\/what-is-this-hdmi-arc-port-on-my-tv\/\">HDMI ARC port<\/a> on your television and you\u2019re good to go. You will find an HDMI cable and an optical cable in the box alongside the Streambar. The HDMI cable should be the only one needed as your TV\u2019s ARC port handles video and audio, but the optical cable is provided just in case your television doesn\u2019t support ARC or that port is taken up by a different device.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, like other new soundbars and sound systems, you won\u2019t find any HDMI in ports on the back of Streambar. The lack of ports isn\u2019t a big deal if the Streambar is the only device plugged into your television, but if you have other devices, you\u2019ll have to rely on the rest of the HDMI slots on your TV and hope it properly distributes the audio signal to the soundbar.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dont_Expect_Roku_Ultra_Performance_But_Thats_Okay\"><\/span>Don\u2019t Expect Roku Ultra Performance, But That\u2019s Okay<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to compare the Roku Streambar with the updated <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Streaming-Bluetooth-Headphone-Shortcuts\/dp\/B08G9TJWW9\/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&amp;keywords=roku+ultra&amp;qid=1602703277&amp;sr=8-4&amp;tag=reviewgeek-20\">Roku Ultra<\/a> set-top box. Both devices are being released during the same time period and have similar price tags. But even though the Streambar costs $30 more, you\u2019ll find less powerful internals and performance compared to the Ultra.<\/p>\n<p>Roku doesn\u2019t advertise exact processors in its streaming devices, but the company did tell me that the one in the Streambar is less powerful than the Ultra\u2019s. Although I never ran into any performance issues or lag when opening <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s, the Ultra can stream Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos content. Although still as capable as the Ultra\u2019s, you can\u2019t plug headphones into the remote and privately listen to what\u2019s on your TV.<\/p>\n<p>Being a soundbar, wanting a remote with a headphone jack might sound backward. If you are paying a premium for speakers, why would you want to use earbuds? Well, I found my guest\u00a0bedroom and office to be ideal locations for the Streambar. In both rooms, there are times that I want to watch television without annoying or waking up my significant other.<\/p>\n<p>You can always purchase the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.roku.com%2Fproducts%2Faccessories%2Fplayer%23item-RC496%3A%7E%3Atext%3DEnhanced%2520voice%2520remote%2CWith%2520TV%2520controls%2520and%2520personal%2520shortcuts&amp;key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482\">enhanced voice remote<\/a> from Roku if you want the extra functionality.<\/p>\n<ul id=\"light-slider\">\n<li class=\"slideshow-slide\" data-thumb=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2020\/10\/08eb7424-150x150.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-pagespeed-no-defer=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2020\/10\/x08eb7424-1024x576.jpg.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.A1QJB1lbsm.jpg\" alt=\"\" role=\"presentation\"\/><\/li>\n<li class=\"slideshow-slide\" data-thumb=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2020\/10\/368733f4-150x150.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-pagespeed-no-defer=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2020\/10\/x368733f4-1024x576.jpg.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.s_esYAAZBS.jpg\" alt=\"\" role=\"presentation\"\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The soundbar itself offers a solid listening experience. Dialog and music (both in the background of videos and while paired to a smartphone over Bluetooth) are clear and loud. While good for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> entertainment, I wouldn\u2019t rely on it by itself for an immersive experience.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to up the sound offered by the Streambar, you can pair the soundbar with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Wireless-Speakers-Smart-Soundbar\/dp\/B086192LQD\/?tag=reviewgeek-20\">Roku\u2019s wireless speakers<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Wireless-Subwoofer-Smart-Soundbar\/dp\/B085G4PPX7\/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&amp;keywords=roku+wireless+subwoofer&amp;qid=1602700741&amp;s=electronics&amp;sr=1-2&amp;tag=reviewgeek-20\">subwoofer<\/a>. Unfortunately, that would mean that your budget soundbar would turn into a ~$460 sound system.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Best_All-in-One_Streaming_Device\"><\/span>The Best All-in-One Streaming Device<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You want a streaming device that just works, whether that be a device from Roku, Google, or any number of other companies. The Streambar offers the best of any major streaming platform (unless you want to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>) and adds speakers that sound on par with any budget-friendly soundbar.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t expect to compare the Streambar to expensive speakers, but Roku did a fantastic job tuning the four speaks in the soundbar to provide a pleasant listening experience.
