\n Fox News<\/a> anchor Chris Wallace on Friday compared Facebook and Twitter to \u201cBig Brother\u201d in their decision to ban The Post\u2019s report on Hunter Biden\u2019s foreign business deals.<\/p>\n

Wallace, who moderated the first presidential debate, said the move from the social media giant\u2019s \u201cbackfired\u201d because the narrative became all about them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has created not just a story about the story, but a story about how big [social] media giants are,\u201d he said on the \u201cFox News Rundown\u201d podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a real problem with that,\u201d Wallace said of both platforms stopping users from sharing The Post\u2019s expos\u00e9 about Hunter Biden selling access to his then-vice president father Joe Biden to executives in Ukraine and China.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you\u2019re either in or you\u2019re out. And when I say that, either it\u2019s the Wild West and you post everything \u2014 and I can understand the concern about that after what happ<\/a>ened in 2016 with Russian disinformation \u2014 or you put everything out there and if you have a problem with some of it \u2026 then put a word on there to your users and say, \u2018We can\u2019t confirm this story\u2019 or \u2018There\u2019s some questions with this story.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Wallace added, \u201cBut to just ban it and to say, \u2018Nobody is allowed to discuss this story or post this story\u2019 \u2014 which, you know, is out there and you can\u2019t put the genie back in the bottle, it was the front page of the New York Post \u2014 really strikes me as smacking of Big Brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBig Brother\u201d is a reference to the fictional character in George Orwell\u2019s novel \u201c1984\u201d about a totalitarian society that\u2019s under constant surveillance.<\/p>\n

The Post report included emails from a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden, showing an adviser to Ukrainian energy company Burisma thanking him \u201cfor inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s campaign and Hunter Biden\u2019s lawyer said the meeting never happened because it wasn\u2019t on the former veep\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n

After the report was published earlier this week, Facebook announced it was \u201creducing its distribution on our platform,\u201d while Twitter moved to altogether block users who tried to share the article, which it claimed contained \u201chacked materials.\u201d<\/p>\n

Twitter updated its \u201chacked materials policy\u201d Thursday night, saying it would no longer remove allegedly \u201chacked\u201d content unless it\u2019s shared by hackers themselves or others. Instead, the platform will label questionable tweets rather than blocking them.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
