There\u2019s nothing quite as annoying as having a song stuck in your head and not being able to identify it. Thankfully, if you can hum the song out loud, Google Search can help you figure out what tune is stuck in your head.<\/p>\n

The Hum to Search feature is available in the Google mobile app<\/a> and works with humming, whistling, or anything else you can do to mimic a tune. The results aren\u2019t always accurate, but it\u2019s a good place to start if an earworm is driving you crazy.<\/p>\n

First, open the Google app on your iPhone<\/a>, iPad<\/a>, or Android<\/a> device and tap the \u201cMicrophone\u201d icon in the search bar. On Android devices, you can also tap the \u201cMicrophone\u201d icon from the Google Search widget found on your home screen.<\/p>\n

When the listening screen appears, you\u2019ll see a \u201cSearch A Song\u201d button. Tap it.<\/p>\n

Start humming or whistling the song you\u2019re trying to identify. This tool can also identify real music that\u2019s playing.<\/p>\n

If Google can find similar matches, the results will appear labeled with match percentages. Tap \u201cMore Results\u201d if your song isn\u2019t in the top results.<\/p>\n

If Google can\u2019t identify the song, you\u2019ll see a screen that says \u201cUnable To Find Match.\u201d You can tap \u201cTry Again\u201d to give it another go.<\/p>\n

In our testing, the feature is hit or miss. Hum to Search does a good job with popular songs and distinct melodies. Songs that don\u2019t have easy to hum tunes are harder to identify.<\/p>\n
