But Peacock is sure treating it like one. The <strong>Stephen King<\/strong>-inspired series originally aired its first three seasons on\u00a0Audience Network, and if you\u2019re reading that and thinking, \u201cWhat the hell is Audience Network?\u201d, you\u2019re not alone! In fact, the channel doesn\u2019t even exist anymore. It was discontinued in May of 2020. Audience\u2019s loss is Peacock\u2019s gain, as the free streaming service is now making all three seasons available. There\u2019s no word on a fourth season yet, but perhaps if enough people watch\u00a0<em>Mr. Mercedes\u00a0<\/em>on Peacock then Peacock will order more episodes. In the meantime, a new\u00a0<em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em> featurette below goes behind-the-scenes of the show.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mr_Mercedes_Featurette\"><\/span><strong>Mr. Mercedes Featurette\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mr. Mercedes | Behind the Scenes with Stephen King\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RtWn8SAGFLg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->I\u2019m a huge Stephen King nerd. I have been for most of my life. But I\u2019ll confess that I just can\u2019t get into his\u00a0Bill Hodges trilogy. It\u2019s probably because I\u2019m just not much of a mystery buff, and the Bill Hodges tales are primarily mysteries, although they do throw a few supernatural elements in here and there. As a result, I\u2019ve never bothered to watch\u00a0<em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em>. And I\u2019m not sure I could\u2019ve if I even wanted to, since the show aired on Audience, a network I have no idea if I have access to.<\/p>\n<p>But now the show has moved to Peacock. To be clear: there are no new episodes on Peacock \u2013 just the first three seasons that already aired. But if I had to guess, I\u2019d say that Peacock is trying to decide how big an audience there is for the show now. If it does good streaming numbers they might go ahead and order more. If not, at least the show is now available to a wider audience.<\/p>\n<p>The featurette above isn\u2019t very in-depth. It\u2019s mostly Mr. King talking about how exciting it is to see someone adapt his words into reality. It\u00a0<em>also<\/em> features a moment where Stephen King says \u201cI hope people will binge\u00a0<em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em> on Peacock!\u201d, and just hearing the master of horror fiction utter that sentence is\u00a0<em>very<\/em> funny to me, so at least there\u2019s that.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em> \u201cfollows a retired detective who is tormented by a serial killer (Brady Hartsfield, aka Mr. Mercedes) through a series of letters and e-mails, causing him to set out on a dangerous and potentially felonious crusade to protect his loved ones and himself.\u201d The cast includes\u00a0<strong>Brendan Gleeson<\/strong>, <strong>Harry Treadaway<\/strong>, <strong>Kelly Lynch<\/strong>, <strong>Jharrel Jerome<\/strong>, Mary-Louise Parker, Holland Taylor, Justine Lupe, Breeda Wool, Scott Lawrence, Ann Cusack, Jack Huston, Tessa Ferrer, Maximiliano Hern\u00e1ndez, and Nancy Travis.
