\n Sen. Lindsey Graham thinks lawmakers should \u201cgo big\u201d with the next coronavirus stimulus package \u2014 but disagrees with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s $2.2 trillion proposal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some Republicans who don\u2019t want to spend anymore. I disagree,\u201d Graham said in a pre-recorded interview on \u201cFull Court Press with Greta Van Susteren\u201d that aired Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we need more money,\u201d he added, \u201cbut we don\u2019t need policy provisions like the House has.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe $2.2 trillion coming out of the House has a mandate for ballot harvesting. What\u2019s that got to do COVID?\u201d Graham said. \u201cAnd the $1,200 payment, which I support, doesn\u2019t require a Social<\/a> Security number to get it, so a lot of the money would go to illegal immigrants.\u201d<\/p>\n

The South Carolina Republican said there\u2019s a consensus on setting up a Paycheck Protection Program to allow small businesses to get a forgivable loan. He also noted there\u2019s a lot of \u201ccommon ground\u201d on helping out schools.<\/p>\n

But Graham said that he while was \u201cwilling to do some unemployment,\u201d he disagreed with renewing the $600 weekly aid that expired July 31, arguing that \u201cyou\u2019re paying people more not to work than work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pelosi on Sunday gave the White House 48 hours to reach a deal on a new relief bill \u2014 saying otherwise Congress will not be able to pass the relief before the November election.<\/p>\n

Graham\u2019s comments also came after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Saturday that he will put forward a $500 billion bill to be voted on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The \u201cskinny\u201d bill, which doesn\u2019t include a new batch of COVID-19 relief checks, would provide funds for schools and health care, liability protections, small-business spending and enhanced unemployment insurance lower than the $600 weekly, according to The Washington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other Senate Republicans have expressed opposition to the hefty spending Pelosi has sought.<\/p>\n

But McConnell has said that should Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin reach a deal, \u201cthe Senate would of course consider it.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
