“#’Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ trailer drops<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Audiences got their first glimpse of footage from Chadwick Boseman\u2019s final film on Monday.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBlack Panther\u201d star, who died in August at 43<\/a>, stars in Netflix\u2019s upcoming \u201cMa Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom,\u201d alongside Oscar-nominee Viola Davis.<\/p>\n

In the film, based on August Wilson\u2019s 1982 Broadway play, Boseman plays Levee, the horn player for blues legend Ma Rainey (Davis). Ma may be the star attraction, but Levee has big dreams of having a band of his own.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna get me a band and make me some records,\u201d Boseman says in the trailer. \u201cI know how to play real music. Not this jugband s\u2013t.\u201d<\/p>\n

George C. Wolfe directs the Chicago-set drama.<\/p>\n

\u201cMa Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom\u201d is one of several Oscars hopefuls Netflix is releasing this year. It joins Aaron Sorkin\u2019s \u201cTrial of the Chicago 7,\u201d Spike Lee\u2019s \u201cDa 5 Bloods,\u201d David Fincher\u2019s \u201cMank\u201d and Ron Howard\u2019s \u201cHillbilly Elegy\u201d in the race to the Academy Awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cMa Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom\u201d hits select theaters in November and will stream on Netflix on Dec. 18.<\/p>\n
