“#Giants are about to face a very different Eagles team, Jalen Hurts<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n The Giants will not be seeing double but they will be seeing two quarterbacks on the field at the same time Thursday night. Carson Wentz has taken 100 percent of the snaps in the first six game<\/a>s, but rookie Jalen Hurts is receiving increased playing time, used in tandem with Wentz.<\/p>\n

It was a strange selection, taking Hurts \u2014 the former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback \u2014 in the second round of the NFL draft, considering Wentz was given a four-year extension worth $128 million. So much draft equity for a gadget player? Hurts was on the field a season-high seven snaps in Sunday\u2019s 30-28 loss to the Ravens. He ran the ball twice for 23 yards and caught one pass for 3 yards.<\/p>\n

\u201cJalen was making people look silly out there,\u2019\u2019 receiver Travis Fulgham said.<\/p>\n

The Eagles will be without their top two offensive players when they face the Giants. Running back Miles Sanders, coming off a 118-yard rushing game that included a 74-yard burst, is expected to be out with a knee injury. Zach Ertz, the Pro Bowl tight end, will miss 3-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain. The Giants play the Eagles twice in 24 days, meaning they might not have to deal with Ertz this season.<\/p>\n

With their top options out, figure the Giants will see plenty of Hurts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou saw some of what we call \u2018X\u2019 plays or plays that are sort of un-scouted with him have been productive for us in the last three or four weeks,\u2019\u2019 head coach Doug Pederson said Monday. \u201cI think it\u2019s something that we\u2019ve got to continue to explore. It does give us the ability to run the football with him, so he\u2019s like another \u2014 I don\u2019t want to say he\u2019s another running back, but he\u2019s a quarterback that can run the zone-read plays from the quarterback position.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something that we\u2019re definitely going to continue to explore each week, if it\u2019s conducive; it has been successful for us, and I could see things continuing each week that way.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The Eagles could be getting back receivers Alshon Jeffery (foot) and DeSean Jackson (hamstring).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter who\u2019s in there,\u2019\u2019 Giants coach Joe Judge said. \u201cThey\u2019re all very capable.\u2019\u2019\n <\/p><\/div>\n
