Red stars, which are significantly smaller than the sun, are also cooler and could allow for liquid water to exist on their orbiting planets, researchers note.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlanets between about the radius of TOI-1266 b and c are quite rare, likely because of the effect of strong irradiation from the star, which can erode their atmospheres,\u201d the study\u2019s lead author, Brice-Olivier Demory, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unibe.ch\/news\/media_news\/media_relations_e\/media_releases\/2020\/media_releases_2020\/two_planets_around_a_red_dwarf\/index_eng.html\">said in a statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>TOI-1266 b is considered a \u201csub-Neptune\u201d due to it being two and a half times the size of Earth\u2019s diameter and TOI-1266 c is one-and-a-half times the size of Earth, putting it in the \u201cSuper-Earth\u201d category.<\/p>\n<p>Both TOI-1266 b and c have similar temperatures and though they are vastly different in size, are believed to have similar density, likely comprised of rocky and metallic components. They may also contain water, the researchers suggested.<\/p>\n<p>Study co-author Yilen G\u00f3mez Maqueo Chew added that studying \u201cthese two different types of planets in the same system is a great opportunity to better understand how these different sized planets come to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The researchers used the Mexico-based SAINT-EX telescope to make their discovery.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2019, NASA\u2019s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/science\/super-earth-habitable-nasa\">discovered a super-Earth exoplanet<\/a> located 31 light-years from Earth that may be \u201chabitable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, researchers <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/science\/24-superhabitable-planets-discovered-close-earth\">identified 24 potentially \u201csuperhabitable\u201d planets<\/a> that may have conditions more suited to host life than Earth.<\/p>\n<p>More than 4,500 exoplanets have been discovered by NASA in total, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately 50 of which were believed to potentially be habitable as of September 2018.
