Here\u2019s what sets it apart from other ways you can play <em>Super Smash Bros.<\/em> online, and how to play the Nintendo classic online on your PC.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_Netplay\"><\/span>What Is Netplay?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Netplay enables online play in emulators, but it isn\u2019t quite the same as traditional online play in video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s. Since the original console being emulated wasn\u2019t made for online play (and netplay is a hack on top of it), what\u2019s h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening is the emulator\u2019s \u201cstate\u201d is constantly being synced between players.<\/p>\n<p>While this is fine for some games, <em>Super Smash Bros. Melee<\/em> for Nintendo GameCube is still being played after all these years because of its vibrant competitive scene. This requires a great deal of reflex and precision. Dolphin\u2019s Netplay solution simply wasn\u2019t good enough for competitive players, but Slippi has changed that!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_Slippi_and_How_Does_It_Beat_Regular_Dolphin_Netplay\"><\/span>What Is Slippi, and How Does It Beat Regular Dolphin Netplay?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>What Slippi adds to the equation is something called \u201crollback netcode.\u201d This means\u00a0<em>Melee<\/em> under Slippi now functions like a game that\u2019s properly made for online play. The input lag is greatly reduced to the levels SSBM players are used to. Due to the world events of 2020, this was necessary to keep the scene alive.<\/p>\n<p>The craziest thing about Slippi for the <em>Smash Bros.<\/em> community is, at this time, it\u2019s actually the best way to play <em>Smash Bros.<\/em> online. Not even the official online play in <em>Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em> for Nintendo Switch has rollback netcode!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Youll_Need\"><\/span>What You\u2019ll Need<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll need to set this up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>An unmodified <em>Super Smash Bros. Melee<\/em> ISO file:<\/strong>\u00a0To legally create one from an official game disc you own, check the \u201cHow to Get GameCube and Wii Games Legally\u201d section in our Dolphin emulator guide. Place this ISO in the \u201cGames\u201d folder after we create it later in this guide.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/slippi.gg\/netplay\">Slippi<\/a> app:<\/strong> Available as a free download for Windows, Mac, and Linux.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A compatible XInput gamepad:<\/strong> This can be an Xbox controller, another gamepad with an XInput wrapper, or a proper GameCube controller.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>How to Use a Real GameCube Controller or Wiimote in Dolphin<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Downloading_Slippi\"><\/span>Downloading Slippi<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First, we\u2019re going to make a few folders for this process. If you already have a real GameCube controller with a regular Dolphin installation on the same machine, skip to the \u201cPlaying Slippi Netplay\u201d section.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise,\u00a0don\u2019t launch the game yet; you\u2019ll need to complete the steps in the next section first.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Setting_Up_Your_Controller_Config_Included\"><\/span>Setting Up Your Controller (Config Included)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you want to use a proper GameCube controller for a vintage experience,\u00a0here\u2019s how to set one up.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using a standard XInput gamepad (Xbox controller or similar), you\u2019re in luck! We\u2019ve provided a preconfigured file for you to use instead of setting up the controller yourself.
