Tony Lewis<\/a>, bassist and lead vocalist for English rock band the Outfield<\/a>, has died. He was 62 years old. The news<\/a> of Lewis\u2019 death was posted on his official website as well as social media<\/a> platforms. \u201cIt is with great sadness and sorrow to announce that Tony Lewis has unexpectedly passed away,\u201d the announcement reads. \u201cHe was a beautiful soul who touched so many lives with his love, his spirit, and his music. The Outfield were best known for their 1985 arena rock single \u201cYour Love.\u201d The track would app<\/a>ear on the band\u2019s debut album Play Deep<\/em>, which arrived the same year. The London-based band was comprised of Lewis, drummer Alan Jackman, and songwriter\/lead guitarist John Spinks. Originally called the Baseball Boys, the group changed their name and signed to CBS Records in 1984 prior to issuing Play Deep<\/em>, which would go on to achieve trip<\/a>le platinum status, with \u201cYour Love\u201d peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard charts.<\/p>\n

Lewis continued recording and playing with the Outfield until John Spinks died in 2014. In 2018, Lewis released his debut solo album titled Out of the Darkness<\/em>. The songs on the record were written by Lewis and his wife Carol, though Lewis performed all of the instruments on the LP. At the time of his death, Lewis had been working on a new EP slated to arrive in 2021.<\/p>\n
