This month, make the most of the Orionid meteor shower.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_is_the_best_time_to_see_the_Orionid_meteor_shower\"><\/span>When is the best time to see the Orionid meteor shower?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Orionids arrive annually between <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately Oct. 2 and Nov. 7, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/meteor-showers\/meteor-shower-calendar\/#Orionids\">according to the American Meteor Society<\/a>, although they aren\u2019t necessarily viewable for the duration. A decent showing may yield some 10 meteors per hour, and up to about 20 during their peak.<\/p>\n<p>The best time to look up occurs during the darkest hours, between Tuesday night, Oct. 20, and Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timeanddate.com\/astronomy\/meteor-shower\/orionid.html\">according to TimeAndDate.com<\/a>, when Earth\u2019s orbit intersects with the rocky entrails of Halley\u2019s Comet, which make up the Orionids. The next time the storied comet will appear in our sky is 2061, during its 76-year cycle around the sun, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/solarsystem.nasa.gov\/asteroids-comets-and-meteors\/comets\/1p-halley\/in-depth\/\">according to NASA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_are_they_called_the_Orionids\"><\/span>Why are they called the Orionids?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Although they\u2019re nowhere near the stars, this meteor shower is named for the constellation Orion\u2019s Belt. Any amount of light pollution will severely decrease visibility, especially for those living in cities and suburbs. Furthermore, much of the northern United States may be under cloud cover, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.windy.com\/-Clouds-clouds?clouds,39.502,-83.763,4\">according to meteorologists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those who do find themselves in a dark area with a clear sky overhead, be patient: It can take about 20 minutes for your eyes to properly adjust to low lighting.
