\n Top CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter was ripped on Twitter<\/a> on Tuesday for what critics called his side-stepping explanation of colleague Jeffrey Toobin\u2019s online-masturbation scandal.<\/p>\n

\u201cJeffrey Toobin has been sidelined at a pivotal moment in the run-up to the presidential election. The reason: He exposed himself during a Zoom call with New Yorker colleagues in what he says was an accident,\u2019\u2019 tweeted Stelter,<\/a> host of the cable network\u2019s show \u201cReliable Sources.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s our full story,\u201d Stelter wrote, including a link to CNN\u2019s take on Toobin\u2019s alleged spectacularly icky moment on a Zoom call with notable New Yorker writers such as himself and WNYC public radio workers last week.<\/p>\n

In addition to being a star staff writer at The New Yorker magazine, Toobin is CNN\u2019s chief legal analyst.<\/p>\n

Twitter user Irritated Furiosa fired back<\/a> at Stelter, \u201cExcept he didn\u2019t accidentally jerk off during a work meeting; he just \u2018accidentally\u2019 let people see it. During a work meeting. He *intentionally* jerked off during a work meeting. On the clock. While looking at his colleagues. THAT is the problem, not the \u2018accidental\u2019 exposure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another user with the handle Trump is a Super-Spreader added<\/a>, \u201cToobin was in a work situation. His behavior was completely inapp<\/a>ropriate and borders on predatory. He needs to be more than side-lined. He should be fired.\u201d<\/p>\n

Toobin admitted to the Web site Vice<\/a>, which first reported the seamy Zoom failure Monday, \u201cI made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Toobin has since been suspended by The New Yorker and taken \u201cleave\u201d from CNN.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
