{"id":9447,"date":"2020-06-17T02:23:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T23:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/de-blasio-looks-clueless-as-nyc-clamors-for-phase-2-reopening-plan\/"},"modified":"2020-06-17T02:23:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T23:23:00","slug":"de-blasio-looks-clueless-as-nyc-clamors-for-phase-2-reopening-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/de-blasio-looks-clueless-as-nyc-clamors-for-phase-2-reopening-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"#De Blasio looks clueless as NYC clamors for Phase 2 reopening plan\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#De Blasio looks clueless as NYC clamors for Phase 2 reopening plan\u00a0<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n                        He\u2019s the man with no plan!<\/p>\n<p>New Yorkers are already pouring into the streets for drinks, eats and protests but Mayor Bill de Blasio still won\u2019t\u00a0 say when New York City\u2019s reopening will reach Phase Two \u2014 or detail other key plans for summer heat relief, business operation and transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Hizzoner\u2019s handling of the coronavirus reopening has exasperated and frustrated virtually all aspects of Gotham\u2019s business and political spectrum, leaving shop owners confused and lawmakers threatening legislation in an attempt to jawbone de Blasio into action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn utter lack of foresight and vision has been a defining feature of the de Blasio administration\u2019s response to this pandemic,\u201d Council Speaker Corey Johnson told The Post. \u201cThe city has consistently failed to plan ahead and now we\u2019re headed towards Phase Two of reopening with more questions than answers on everything from buses to beaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Take dining.<\/p>\n<p>City Hall promised it would dramatically simplify the process for restaurants and bars to score permits for outdoor seating space \u2014 which advocates say is essential to helping them stay in business as the world awaits a coronavirus vaccine \u2014 but has yet to even begin accepting <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications or detail how the new process will work.<\/p>\n<p>That initiative only came after Johnson threatened to pass a law that would require City Hall to come up with such a program after Chicago and Cincinnati unveiled post-lockdown cafe dining initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg promised Tuesday that City Hall would finally roll out the plan later this week during a forum hosted by the magazine City &#038; State.<\/p>\n<p>There is still no date for when city playgrounds might reopen and conservative Jewish politicians and neighborhood activist cut the locks off of parks in predominantly Orthodox neighborhoods Monday and Tuesday in frustration. That came as Manhattan\u2019s liberal borough president, Gale Brewer, castigated de Blasio for still not having a summer plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@NYCMayor, what\u2019s the plan to make sure kids have open spaces to play this summer? It\u2019s not ok that some can afford to go to day camps upstate, while the kids in the city have to stay cooped up inside,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWe need a plan, and we need it fast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De Blasio insisted Tuesday morning that he would not reevaluate the playground closure policy until New York\u2019s reopening reaches Phase Two \u2014 all while refusing to provide any target date for the further relaxing of coronavirus restrictions, which under state guidelines could happen as soon as Monday, June 22.<\/p>\n<p>Nor is there a date for when City Hall might sign off on swimming at city beaches \u2014 while the head of the powerful municipal employees union, Henry Garrido, shot down Hizzoner\u2019s suggestion that public pools could open after de Blasio floated that notion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSummer comes at the same time every year, so I don\u2019t know why we\u2019re acting like we\u2019re caught off guard,\u201d said Councilman Justin Brannan (D-Brooklyn) said. \u201cIt seems like City Hall just forgot to plan for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Things aren\u2019t much better when it comes to transit and transportation as the threat of coronavirus keeps straphangers off the subways \u2014 even after the backlash that came two weeks ago when de Blasio suggested such plans weren\u2019t his responsibility and told reporters that New Yorkers \u201care going to have to improvise\u201d ways around town.<\/p>\n<p>De Blasio last week announced plans for 20 miles of new bus lanes and busways with more promised \u2014 but only after the MTA requested 60 miles and the City Council threatened legislation that would force him to build 40 miles.<\/p>\n<p>That plan followed weeks of controversy as de Blasio resisted calls from the Council to close down city streets as a way to make more room for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> distancing and criticism over City Hall\u2019s coronavirus bike lane expansion plan that included just nine new miles of bike lanes, all from projects that were previously in the works.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Paris is rolling out plans to install more than 450 miles of new bike lanes as part of its effort to reduce crowding on transit as the city moves to reopen, according to a study released by the National Association of City Transportation Officials.
