“#Stephen Colbert Moved To TEARS During Dolly Parton Interview \u2014 Watch!

\nStephen Colbert<\/strong> is all of us<\/em> ten months into 2020!<\/p>\n

The Late Show<\/em> host was interviewing Dolly Parton<\/strong> on Tuesday\u2019s episode of his CBS<\/strong> show when the music icon burst into song \u2014 which caused the comedia<\/a>n to burst into tears shortly after.<\/p>\n

The emotional incident went down while the two were discussing songs the Jolene<\/em> singer\u2019s mother, Avie Lee Owens<\/strong>, used to sing to her. Dolly started to sing Bury Me Beneath the Willow<\/em> in her signature angelic voice, and Colbert, who lost his mother Lorna<\/strong> in 2013, was so touched that he broke down in the middle of their interview.<\/p>\n

After the funny man started miming to someone off-camera that he was getting \u201cgoosebumps,\u201d the country crooner asked in between lyrics:<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, you\u2019re crying? I better hush before you cry yourself to death and we can\u2019t finish the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Ha! She must get that all the time!<\/p>\n

Colbert then wiped away his tears and laughed, telling the superstar:<\/p>\n

\u201cLike a lot of Americans, I\u2019m under a lot of stress right now, Dolly. You got my trip<\/a>wire right there, I\u2019ll tell you. That was pretty beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dolly understood, telling the 56-year-old host she\u2019s also been moved to tears by the power of music. She said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe used to cry when Momma would sing. Momma would cry, we\u2019d cry. Those old songs were just amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now we cry by turning on the news<\/a>, LOLz!<\/p>\n

Colbert then asked the 74-year-old musician:<\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t it funny that sometimes there\u2019s nothing happ<\/a>ier than a cry?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To which she replied:<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I think that cleanses your soul. Water washes it out. That\u2019s what it\u2019s for, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

For Dolly, the best way to have a good, cathartic cry is through music. Earlier in the interview, she opened up about turning to music to help herself and others, telling Colbert:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just feel like I can express myself in ways that I don\u2019t need a doctor for, I don\u2019t need therapy, I just sing it all out, write it all out. I can write for other people too, like you said. Because I see things happen to other people and I think, \u2018They don\u2019t know how to express how they feel.\u2019 They\u2019re depressed or they\u2019re sad, so I write songs for them as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
