They\u2019re <em>amazing<\/em>. Take, for example, my Kindle Paperwhite.\u00a0It hold <em>thousands<\/em> of books, so I\u2019m never at a loss for something to read. The backlight means I can devour novels in low-light. It\u2019s easy to hold, so I can get comfortable everywhere. What\u2019s not to like?<\/p>\n<p>Well, I\u2019ll tell you: it doesn\u2019t make me look smart.<\/p>\n<p>Books, and let\u2019s be honest here, are a PR tool. Like\u2026 have you ever actually\u00a0<em>read a book?\u00a0<\/em>Me neither. Instead, I spend around 12 hours every day on public transport holding a copy of\u00a0<em>Gravity\u2019s Rainbow<\/em>\u00a0so people really know just how smarter and more interesting and cleverer I am than them.<\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t do that with a Kindle.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever anyone looks at you using an ereader their first though will be \u201cNERD.\u201d That\u2019s not what I want. Not at all. I need to be seen as\u00a0a swashbuckling Lord Byron, not a basement-dwelling incel like Elon Musk.<\/p>\n<p>Here we reach the crux of the issue: there are times I\u00a0<em>need<\/em> to use a Kindle. Like if I\u2019m going on holiday. Or want to read some ridiculous fantasy novel. Plus,\u00a0<em>Infinite Jest\u00a0<\/em>is playing havoc with my Vitamin D deficient wrist bones.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully there\u2019s a solution, and it\u2019s called\u00a0the BookBook Kindle Paperwhite case from Twelvesouth. I\u2019ll ask one more time: DO YOU SEE THAT? Not only does it look like an actual book, it looks like an\u00a0<em>old book.\u00a0<\/em>And if there\u2019s one universal truth about people who read old books it\u2019s that they\u2019re supremely sophisticated and are brain geniuses because old books are basically written in a different language and are very, very boring.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_BookBook_Kindle_case_a_good_case\"><\/span>The BookBook Kindle case: a good case<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>That sub-head says it all really.<\/p>\n<p>The BookBook Kindle case is made for the latest version of the Paperwhite and fits it perfectly. Be a bit shit if it didn\u2019t, right?<\/p>\n<p>It offers decent protection, I\u2019ve been able to throw it into my bag and leave it there with little to no damage. Obviously, it makes the Kindle a little heavier and harder to use with one hand, but not by much at all. It\u2019s still easier to hold than a regular book.<\/p>\n<p>Another cool thing: the case automatically wakes and puts your device to sleep when you open and close it.<\/p>\n<p>Also, it only takes a few moments to slip the Kindle Paperwhite out if you do want to read it like that. I\u2019m a big fan.<\/p>\n<p>There really aren\u2019t very many negatives. If I\u2019m being picky, the zip curves into the spine a bit meaning it doesn\u2019t always open in a totally smooth way, but I got used to this pretty quickly. Also, I\u2019m not sure I\u2019d trust it holding up if you got it wet (say, in the bath), but you can just take your waterproof Kindle out the case if you plan on doing that.<\/p>\n<p>And the biggest negative?
