{"id":95052,"date":"2020-10-22T13:19:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T10:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/paypal-might-issue-its-own-cryptocurrency-soon-says-coinshares-exec\/"},"modified":"2020-10-22T13:19:18","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T10:19:18","slug":"paypal-might-issue-its-own-cryptocurrency-soon-says-coinshares-exec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/paypal-might-issue-its-own-cryptocurrency-soon-says-coinshares-exec\/","title":{"rendered":"# PayPal might issue its own cryptocurrency soon, says CoinShares exec"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong># PayPal might issue its own cryptocurrency soon, says CoinShares exec <\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5ldS1jZW50cmFsLTEuYW1hem9uYXdzLmNvbS9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjAtMTAvN2MzOTM0OGEtOTdiOS00ZWRlLTgyNDYtYzg2NGMwNTE2ODgwLmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-v-5a136f3a=\"\">Global digital payment giant PayPal might be moving into issuing its own cryptocurrency after officially entering the crypto industry, according to a major industry exec.<\/p>\n<p>Meltem Demirors, CSO at digital asset management firm CoinShares, says that she will not be surprised if PayPal issues its own token after the company broke the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> of its soon-to-come support for crypto..<\/p>\n<p>In an Oct. 21 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNBCFastMoney\/status\/1319033981153775616?s=20\">interview<\/a> with CNBC\u2019s<em> Fast Money, <\/em>Demirors claimed that PayPal\u2019s supporting crypto could eventually become a basis for launching its own, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be surprised if, in the next six to 12 months, we see PayPal launching its own digital currency similar to a digital dollar that we see in many payments companies.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Demirors said that PayPal might be interested in launching its own token as the company\u00a0officially left the Libra Association, the governing body of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>\u2019s Libra digital currency project. A member of the association at the project\u2019s launch in June 2019, PayPal left the initiative several months after, claiming that it does not want the regulatory scrutiny over Libra to \u201cbleed into their business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PayPal CEO Dan Schulman\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2019\/11\/20\/paypal-ceo-dan-schulman-libra\/\">subsequently said<\/a>\u00a0that that regulation and compliance are foundational for PayPal as a company trusted worldwide. He also stated that PayPal is developing a product that is \u201cnot necessarily competitive with Libra.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 21, PayPal officially announced that the company will introduce the ability to \u201cbuy, hold and sell\u201d a number of cryptos including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC) directly with the PayPal digital wallet.
