\nAll right, all right, all right! This policy is completely right!<\/p>\n

Matthew McConaughey<\/strong> made an app<\/a>earance on the\u00a0Howard Stern Show<\/em> on\u00a0SiriusXM<\/strong> on Wednesday, and the 50-year-old actor was as charismatic and charming as ever, wowing host Howard Stern<\/strong> and right-hand woman Robin Quivers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>with tales from Hollywood and a particularly funny story about his own mother!<\/p>\n

Stern was most notably impressed with McConaughey\u2019s new memoir, Greenlights<\/em>, and a particular passage therein where the Texas native reveals his tried and true rule: don\u2019t date co-stars!<\/p>\n

Considering McConaughey\u2019s impressive list of knock-out female co-stars in his career \u2014 including\u00a0Kate Hudson<\/strong>,\u00a0Sandra Bullock<\/strong>,\u00a0Jennifer Lopez<\/strong>,\u00a0Reese Witherspoon<\/strong>, and\u00a0Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong>, to name but a few \u2014 surely that must have been a very difficult rule to follow at times, right?!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0University of Texas<\/strong> alum demurred at the notion of difficulty, telling Howard how it was all about keeping things professional on set no matter what. The hunky actor explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always tried to keep it professional and the people I worked with, I must say, did it well. Maybe we had certain crushes on each other at certain times, but we always just kinda kept it professional. Or maybe we were dating somebody seriously outside of ourselves at the time and we both respected that for the other.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We\u2019d love to know which women he had \u201ccertain crushes\u201d on, though! And vice versa! We can certainly take a few guesses\u2026<\/p>\n

McConaughey was also quick to point out that couples who fall in love on set don\u2019t always make the best movies<\/a> together! Especially after they get married!<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you look at the history of films, and you see a couple [who]\u2026 did a movie together and later on they get married and they make another movie together, watch the movies! When they\u2019re really good is the movie before it was ever public that they were getting together. They\u2019re on the approach, where you\u2019re going, \u2018Oh, off-set they have a little honeymoon happening.\u2019 But once they get married, you watch that [second] movie, they\u2019re not near as good together. It\u2019s the movie where they met where you go, \u2018That\u2019s the one where this thing is sizzling.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s true! One need only look back to\u00a0Brad Pitt<\/strong> and\u00a0Angelina Jolie<\/strong>\u2018s electricity on\u00a0Mr. & Mrs Smith<\/em> \u2014 compared to their work as a longtime couple in\u00a0By The Sea<\/em> to see the difference.<\/p>\n

On a more serious and touching note, the How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days<\/em> actor also doubled down on how his marriage and family are \u201cnon-negotiable\u201d in Hollywood. The star married Camila Alves<\/strong> in 2012, and the pair now share three kids \u2014 Livingston<\/strong>, 7, Vida<\/strong>, 10, and Levi<\/strong>, 12 \u2014 that he\u2019s quick to note are way more important than any fleeting moment of stardom or fame.<\/p>\n

The actor summed it up perfectly:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe non-negotiable things in my life, when I\u2019ve watered their proverbial garden, that\u2019s when my garden grew and I flourished, and I became more me and life felt more vital. I\u2019ve had trysts [in the past] along the way in my own life, and some people can have them forever and you can Peter Pan your way through the whole thing. Fine. But the most important thing to me is my family.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
