“#Kyoto Animation to Merge With Animation Do on November 1<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

After it being announced<\/span><\/a> through the Government Gazette last month, Kyoto Animation confirmed<\/span><\/a> today on the anime<\/a> studio's website that they will be merging the operations and rights of Animation Do into Kyoto Animation<\/strong> on November 1. Kyoto Animation will take over all the day to day for its old subsidiary, including the staff members, which were already regularly shared between the two companies.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Animation Do was a subsidiary of Kyoto Animation with KyoAni president Hideaki Hatta <\/strong>in charge of both companies. Animation Do was established as Kyoto Animation Osaka Studio until it was incorporated as a limited company in 2001, then becoming a full corporation in 2010. Do mainly worked as an affiliate to Kyoto Animation, supporting their projects until the Free!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> anime franchise came along, where Animation Do produced the franchise mostly in-house with support from their sister studio. <\/p>\n

The next entry in the Free!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> franchise will be released at some point in 2021, after being delayed<\/span><\/a> from mid-2020 due to the Kyoto Animation arson attack<\/span><\/a>. Presumably, Kyoto Animation will lead the project after the merge goes through.<\/p>\n
