It was a brutal experience, especially for families who just wanted to take their kids to see a Pixar movie. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"aCOpRe\">Well, Disney is at it again with a new <em>Frozen<\/em> short film focusing on Olaf. Thankfully, <strong><em>Once Upon a Snowman<\/em><\/strong> clocks in around only seven minutes, and you can watch one minute of it right now<\/span><span id=\"more-642631\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Once_Upon_a_Snowman_Clip\"><\/span>Once Upon a Snowman Clip<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Official Clip | Once Upon a Snowman | Disney+\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qpjZMuhnYcI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Everyone knows that Olaf was created by Elsa in the midst of her \u201cLet It Go\u201d ballad in the original Frozen. What <em>Once Upon a Snowman<\/em> presupposes is\u2026maybe there\u2019s more to the story? The new short film basically puts the focal point on Olaf in the middle of Elsa\u2019s song, and then watches as he slowly becomes self-aware and has a bit of an identity crisis in the most Olaf way possible.<\/p>\n<p>Look, I get that Olaf is the comedic relief of <em>Frozen<\/em>, and he makes kids and adults crack up equally. And <strong>Josh Gad<\/strong> is still thoroughly enjoyable as the character too. But I feel like we\u2019re getting away from the magic of the original <em>Frozen<\/em>, especially since this short shows that certain key events in the movie were accidentally caused by Olaf, thereby chipping away at some of the movie\u2019s magic. It\u2019s not necessarily ruining <em>Frozen<\/em>, because the short still has its moments, but it\u2019s starting to feel like Disney isn\u2019t sure what to do with these characters anymore.<\/p>\n<p><em>Once Upon a Snowman<\/em> is directed by <strong>Trent Correy<\/strong>, an animation supervisor for Olaf in <em>Frozen 2<\/em> and <strong>Dan Abraham<\/strong>, a veteran story artist who worked on the \u201cWhen I Am Older\u201d sequence in <em>Frozen II<\/em>. We talked to both of the filmmakers, who offered some insight into where the idea came from and how their movie was inspired by both <em>Back to the Future Part II<\/em> and Pixar\u2019s <em>Up<\/em> short film <em>Dug\u2019s Special Mission<\/em>.
