Google Fit houses a range of your vital health data that you have recorded over the course of months or even years using your phone, which is why it\u2019s key to frequently back it up. With Google\u2019s data export tool, Takeout, you can extract a copy of your Google Fit in minutes. Here\u2019s how to use it.<\/p>\n

Head over to the Google Takeout website<\/a> and sign in with your Google account. Click the \u201cDeselect All\u201d shortcut if you\u2019re only interested in Fit and don\u2019t want the archive to include copies of your data from the rest of the Google services.<\/p>\n

\"Visit<\/p>\n

Look for \u201cFit\u201d in the list and check the box next to it.<\/p>\n

\"Back<\/p>\n

Click the \u201cAll Fit Data Included\u201d button to choose whether you want to back up your activities data, the daily summaries of your sessions, or both.\u00a0The \u201cMultiple Formats\u201d option will tell you in which format Google will archive your Fit data.<\/p>\n

Now, scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit the \u201cNext Step\u201d button.<\/p>\n

Here, you can customize the backup process in a variety of ways. You can pick how you want Google to deliver the archive file to you, set up automatic exports every two months, the file type, and size.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re done adjusting these settings, select \u201cCreate Export.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Extract<\/p>\n

Google will start extracting a copy of your Fit data. You don\u2019t have to stick around as Google will let you know via email when it\u2019s done. Depending on how much data you have accumulated on Fit, this can take days or even weeks.<\/p>\n

You can also cancel the backup request with the \u201cCancel Export\u201d option.<\/p>\n

When Google is finished creating a copy of your data, you will get an email with the subject, \u201cYour Google data is ready to download<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inside that email, click the \u201cDownload Your Files\u201d button to access your archive file. Sign in again with your Google credentials for confirmation.<\/p>\n

\"Download<\/p>\n

It will redirect you to your \u201cManage Your Exports\u201d page, and the file should automatically begin downloading. In case it doesn\u2019t, you can manually grab the file by clicking the \u201cDownload\u201d button next to the Fit export entry in the list.<\/p>\n

\"Export<\/p>\n

The downloaded ZIP folder will have an \u201carchive_browser.html\u201d document that will let you easily go through all the health data. You won\u2019t be able to read directly any information because the files will be in TCX or CSV formats.<\/p>\n

You can follow our dedicated guide for viewing CSV files. For TCX, we recommend importing the file into a GPS data reader, such as GPS Visualizer<\/a>.<\/p>\n
