\n Jonathan Endecott wanted to be a normal kid again \u2014 to get back to class and his friends. But the 9-year-old New Mexico boy didn\u2019t know quite how because of the darned coronavirus.<\/p>\n

His school in Roswell is closed and switched to remote learning, but his mother, Angel Endecott, couldn\u2019t afford the internet bill after she lost both of her jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was like, \u2018Yeah, I need to be back on the school property, and I could be like a normal kid again,\u201d Endecott told CNN.<\/a><\/p>\n

So, dear ol\u2019 Mom suggested her son get a move on \u2014 walk to his school building and connect with the Wi-Fi there.<\/p>\n

Endecott didn\u2019t have any qualms about the jaunt because Jonathan had walked the few blocks every day last year. He sat \u2014 sometimes he lied down \u2014 outside the front door.<\/p>\n

\u201cHim just being outside of the building gives him that, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m at school\u2019 feeling even though he\u2019s not around other classmates or teachers,\u201d she told CNN.<\/p>\n

Grown-ups inside the building checked up on Jonathan \u2014 the principal, the secretary \u2014 but that wasn\u2019t enough for educator Sabrina Talbott Harbour.<\/p>\n

Seeing the boy both broke her heart and outraged her. She shared a picture of him online.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis young boy has no internet at his home,\u201d Harbour wrote. \u201cHe has been getting up and walking to school every day to connect to the school Wi-Fi from outside the school. He sits there every day from 8:00-2:45.<\/p>\n

She went on: \u201cThis isn\u2019t OK. The kids will be better off in school. The kids are suffering social<\/a>ly, academically, mentally and physically.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harbour\u2019s photo brought an outpouring from the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have always lived paycheck to paycheck. With God\u2019s help we have always managed to get just enough to live with what we had to pay for. Then covid hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone paid the family\u2019s internet bill for a year and Endecott is raising funds on GoFundMe to help her pay a host of other expenses, including plumbing repairs and new flooring.<\/p>\n

And now, with no worries about internet access, Jonathan is delving into his favorite subject \u2014 science<\/a> \u2014 and chatting away with his friends online.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
