\n A close adviser to Vice President Mike Pence tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this week, according to reports on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Marty Obst \u2014 who is Pence\u2019s senior political adviser, though not a government employee \u2014 tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, Bloomberg reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He was last around the vice president about a week ago, though not in close proximity.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely clear if Obst had developed symptoms of the virus. He declined to comment to Bloomberg.<\/p>\n

Obst isn\u2019t the first person in the veep\u2019s orbit to catch the bug.<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for Pence, Katie Miller, tested positive for COVID-19 in May and later recovered.<\/p>\n

Her husband, Stephen Miller, who is President Trump\u2019s chief speech writer and domestic policy adviser, tested positive earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The virus has spread through the White House since at least September, infecting the president, the first lady and several top aides.<\/p>\n

Pence \u2014 who was in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday night for a campaign event \u2014 has so far dodged the illness.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
