\n You don\u2019t want this bird at your Thanksgiving table.<\/p>\n

A notoriously \u201cfowl\u201d turkey spent months attacking people in the Bay Area before it was finally captured last week \u2014 by a wildlife expert posing as an elderly woman.<\/p>\n

Nicknamed Gerald, the belligerent bird ruffled the feathers of Oakland residents for about five months, pouncing on visitors to the neighborhood\u2019s Morcom Rose Garden, local outlet KGO-TV reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Officials were forced to close the park in June, out of concern for public safety.<\/p>\n

Oakland Animal Services said it had received dozens of complaints about the aggressive gobbler \u2014 whose favorite target seemed to be older women.<\/p>\n

Residents described the turkey charging at them, jumping on them and clawing and pecking incessantly as they tried to run away, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

Gerald was finally caught last Thursday by Rebecca Dmytryk, director of Wildlife Emergency Services, who disguised herself as a frail, elderly woman and baited the bird with blueberries, kibble and sunflower seeds.<\/p>\n

When Gerald predictably charged at her, Dmytryk said she \u201cscruffed\u201d the turkey \u2014 grabbing him by the neck in a way that doesn\u2019t hurt the bird.<\/p>\n

He was then released onto wild land near Orinda, the report said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
