“#CBS Sets Shorter Seasons for ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘NCIS’ & More<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

CBS’ usual fall fare is getting off to a later start this season, and as a result, the episode orders for some of its series<\/a> are a bit shorter.<\/p>\n

Rather than air up to 24 episodes in the 2020-2021 season, CBS has set 16 for Blue Bloods<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Bull<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Magnum P.I.<\/em><\/a>, NCIS<\/em><\/a>, NCIS: New Orleans<\/em><\/a>, and\u00a0SEAL Team<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and 18 for\u00a0NCIS: Los Angeles<\/em><\/a> and\u00a0The Neighborhood<\/em><\/a>, according to\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>. The Unicorn<\/em><\/a> will air 13 as planned for its second season. These shows are all produced by CBS Studios.<\/p>\n

These shorter episode orders can be attributed to the new protocols in effect to film due to the coronavirus pandemic, including testing and social<\/a> distancing. It’s more expensive and takes more time to produce an episode as a result.<\/p>\n

Exact episode counts for the rest of the network’s primetime lineup (like\u00a0FBI<\/em><\/a>, its spinoff\u00a0FBI: Most Wanted<\/em><\/a>, and Mom<\/em><\/a>) haven’t been announced yet but will reportedly be along the same lines.<\/p>\n

This news<\/a> comes as CBS’ script<\/a>ed shows are set to begin premiering in early November. Premiere dates for all of its planned “fall” schedule have not yet been announced; we’re still waiting to find out when Blue Bloods<\/em>,\u00a0The Equalizer<\/em>,\u00a0Evil<\/em>,\u00a0MacGyver<\/em>, and Magnum P.I.\u00a0<\/em>will return.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
