According to the researcher, Microstrategy only earned $78 million in net income from its business operations in the last three and a half years.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2020-10\/37d8db46-5d6f-4a72-9fd7-d355f3d87713.jpeg\"\/><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Source: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kerooke\/status\/1321137199585394695\">Kevin Rooke<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOur recent decision to make Bitcoin our primary treasury reserve asset is the latest example of MicroStrategy\u2019s embrace of virtual technologies,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ir.microstrategy.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/microstrategy-announces-third-quarter-2020-financial-results\">said<\/a> CEO Michael Saylor regarding the firm\u2019s most recent quarterly report. \u201cThe purchase of $425 million of Bitcoin during the quarter offers the possibility of greater return potential for investors than holding such balances in cash and has increased the overall visibility of MicroStrategy in the market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MicroStrategy initially purchased 21,454 BTC in August for $250 million, adopting the cryptocurrency as its primary reserve asset. Following the initial investment, the firm bought an additional 16,796 Bitcoin for $175 million. Though the company added digital assets to its quarterly financial report for the first time in Q3 2020, it also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ir.microstrategy.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/microstrategy-announces-third-quarter-2020-financial-results\">reported<\/a> a $14.2 million net loss in income from its business operations. MicroStrategy stated in the future, it would purchase or sell more BTC depending on the Treasury Reserve Policy.<\/p>\n<p>Initially claiming \u201cBitcoin\u2019s days are numbered\u201d in 2013, Saylor has since turned bullish on the cryptocurrency.
