\n The Girl Scouts of America on Wednesday congratulated Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on her app<\/a>ointment, but deleted the social media<\/a> posts after sweeping criticism.<\/p>\n

The Scouts\u2019 Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts featured an image of Barrett and the first four women justices to serve on the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/p>\n

That includes Sandra Day O\u2019Connor, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose death last month paved the way for President Donald Trump to nominate Barrett.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations Amy Coney Barrett on becoming the 5th woman appointed to the Supreme Court since its inception in 1789,\u201d the group tweeted around 1 p.m. ET, screenshots of the tweet show.<\/p>\n

The Scouts then clarified that the group is \u201ca nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are neither red nor blue, but Girl Scout GREEN. We are here to lift up girls and women. If you would like to debate partisan police\u2013keep scrolling,\u201d the Girl Scouts posted on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.<\/p>\n

The post sparked immediate criticism on social media of both the Girl Scouts and Barrett, who many liberals consider a threat to abortion rights, Obamacare and other progressive matters because of her religious conservative and religious viewpoint.<\/p>\n

The Group deleted the posts from all of its social media sites Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

Twitter users continued to slam the Girl Scouts from both sides, for both the original post and relenting to the criticism.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course the @girlscouts caved to the mob and deleted this tweet congratulating Amy Coney Barrett. SAD,\u201d The Independent Women\u2019s Forum tweeted from its official account<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Just after 7:30 p.m. ET, the Girl Scouts posted again<\/a>, saying that the post \u201cwas quickly viewed as a political and partisan statement which was not our intent and we have removed the post.\u201d\n <\/div>\n
