Final Fantasy's Yoshitaka Amano Goes High Fashion with Vogue Cover

Vogue Italia is kicking off the new year with a look at fashion illustrations, and they’re bringing in iconic artists to design their variant covers. It’s no surprise to see Yoshitaka Amano in the mix!

Amano’s iconic style is well known to fans of Final Fantasy and Vampire Hunter D, but he’s a prolific artist in other areas. Recently he worked with TYPE-MOON to create a line of fine art prints featuring Fate/Grand Order Servants.

His latest illustration will be used as one of seven variant covers for the fashion mag’s upcoming issue. It features his rendition of model Lindsey Wixson-Young in Gucci. The model shared the art on her Instagram, calling it an honor to be featured and noting in all caps that „NO PHOTOSHOOT PRODUCTION WAS REQUIRED IN THE MAKING OF THIS ISSUE.“

The January 2020 issue comes out on newsstands in Italy tomorrow, and marks the first time Vogue‘s Italian edition has had an illustrated cover.
