„In This Corner of The World“ Director Sunao Katabuchi Establishes New Anime Production Company CONTRAIL
Three days after the release of his latest film Kono Sekai no (Sarani Ikutsumono) Katasumi ni / In This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World, 59-year-old anime director Sunao Katabuchi announced that he had already established a new anime production company CONTRAIL for his next feature film.
CONTRAIL is located in Suginami Ward, Tokyo, and its establishment date was September 2, 2019. Manabu Ohtsuka, the representative director of MAPPA (In This Corner of The World’s anime production company), also serves the same role for CONTRAIL. The new company’s policy is „We want to create animations that will be loved by many people for a long time.“
Animation drawing and production staff for Katabuchi’s next film will be recruited from January 2020.
Sunao Katabuchi is also known for his directorial works for Princess Arete (feature film/2001), BLACK LAGOON (TV anime/2006), and Mai Mai Miracle (2009).
