„Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC: Secret Boss & Ending Guide“

Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC has launched, sending fans of the series back into the worlds of this SquareEnix/Disney hybrid. Along with a new storyline and the return of fan-favorite Keyblades, Re:Mind has some hidden secrets buried deep after the DLC is concluded. These secrets include two new secret endings and the most difficult boss fight ever put into a Kingdom Hearts game.

To access these secrets, players must go through some of the toughest challenges ever laid out in a Kingdom Hearts game. It’s a long grind, but well worth the effort. This guide will walk players through accessing the boss, fighting him, and the two different possible endings available.

As the picture indicates, the secret boss hidden in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind is none other than Yozora, the mysterious figure who was hidden at the end of the original secret ending to the main story. He is also the main protagonist of Verum Rex, the mini-game located in the Toy Box world. Yozora is hidden deep in the DLC and is a difficult battle that the player will have to overcome.

There are quite a few obstacles that players must overcome to actually fight Yozora. The first being that the main story and the Re:Mind DLC story must be completed. Re:Mind only lasts around 4-5 hours depending on how much a player searches around Scala Ad Caelum.

Once finished, a new episode will appear in the downloadable content menu called LimitCut. LimitCut has the player fight through thirteen different, and difficult bosses including:

  • Xehanort
  • Xemnas
  • Ansem
  • Young Xehanort
  • Terra-Xehanort
  • Vanitas
  • Saix
  • Luxord
  • Marluxia
  • Larxene
  • Xigbar
  • Xion
  • Dark Riku

This alone is a feat that will challenge even the most dedicated Kingdom Hearts 3 players. After LimitCut is completed another secret episode will unlock in the downloadable content menu. This episode will lead the player few a couple of cutscenes and end with the final face-off with Yozora.

It is highly recommended that players first equip Sora with the Ultima Blade along with the OathKeeper and Oblivion Blades as Yozora is a beast to defeat. Yozora has an incredible amount of health, there will be a health bar along with a number just below. Every time Yozora’s health drops to zero, the number will lower and his health will be fully restored. This makes battling Yozora a long and arduous task.

Yozora utilizes multiple projectiles throughout the battle. Generally, he will shoot out three balls that trap the player in a triangle and deal damage. Keep nimble and avoid these projectiles as much as possible. Stay focused on Yozora and get in close as often as possible. If you took the above advice and brought along the Oathkeeper and Oblivion Keyblades, utilizing the Double Form that the Keyblades provide is the best way to deal as much damage as possible.

If the player manages to defeat Yozora, they will be rewarded with the Crystal Regalia+ an item that will boost Max AP, Magic, and Strength. Beating Yozora also gives the player access to the „good“ secret ending. Losing to Yozora will trigger the „bad“ secret ending. Either way, the knowledge that is gained through fighting Yozora is sure to increase any players fighting prowess.

One of the most interesting parts of the Yozora battle is that win or lose, the player is rewarded with one of the secret endings. If the player fails the battle they will watch as Sora crystallizes into a frozen statue, leaving the player lost without their hero. Yozora walks up to Sora’s floating body and utters the line „I will save you.“ If the player defeats Yozora, he will dissipate into a bright flash of white light, Leaving Sora with an enigma by stating, „I guess, that my powers aren’t needed yet.“

Whichever ever ending is achieved the same cut scene will play out with Yozora waking in the backseat of a car. There are some minor differences between a Sora win and a Yozora win. If Sora is defeated, the two voices of Sora and Yozora will speak out the final line of the scene, indicating that they have merged into one being. If Yozora is defeated only his voice will be heard uttering the final lines.

„I’ve been having these weird thoughts lately. Like is any of this for real, or not?“

Many eagle-eyed players have noticed the massive similarities in this final scene with the original 2011 trailer for Final Fantasy Versus 13. The framing and cuts are almost identical. As of this posting, no official information has been released on if this has any bearing on the future of the Kingdom Hearts series.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
