Supernatural Mystery Manga The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window Gets Live-Action film
It is confirmed today that a live-action film adaptation of Tomoko Yamashita’s supernatural mystery manga Sankakumado no Sotogawa wa Yoru / The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window is now in the works for a release in 2020.
30-year-old Masaki Okada (Kotaro Katsura in the Gintama live-action films) and 24-year-old Jun Shison (Right/ToQ 1gou in Ressha Sentai ToQger) are cast as its two protagonists: Rihito Hiyakawa and Kosuke Mikado. Yukihiro Morigaki, known for his works for the TV CMs for Nisshin’s Cup Noodle brand and Cygames‘ smartphone game Granblue Fantasy, is attached to direct.

The manga author Yamashita commented on the news on Twitter: „I am the one who is surprised the most in the world, but it will become a film.“

The manga has been serialized in Libre’s boys love magazine MAGAZINE BE×BOY since 2013, and so far released seven tankobon volumes and printed more than one million copies. Its English edition has been released by yaoi / boys love manga company SuBLime since March 2015. The publisher describes its story as below:
Shy bookstore clerk Kosuke Mikado has the ability to see ghosts and spirits, an ability he wishes he didn’t have, since what he sees usually terrifies him. Rihito Hiyakawa, an exorcist whose supernatural powers are as strong as his social graces are weak, doesn’t seem to fear anything, mortal or otherwise. When this odd couple gets together to solve the bizarre cases that come their way, their work methods may not be entirely safe for work!
