Takahiro Mizushima and Chika Anzai Join the Ghoulish Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun TV Anime

On January 2, it was announced that two new voice actors will be joining the cast of the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Iro Aida’s supernatural manga, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, about a ghost that haunts a toilet in a school. New anime visuals of the characters of Natsuhiko Hyuga and Sakura Nanamine were released alongside the cast announcement.

Anzai spoke about the series, saying she was “captivated by the world” of the original manga and while reading, she “remembered the sensation of excitement of childhood.” Mizushima commented that he wanted to play the role of Natsuhiko “happily.”

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is currently being serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine. Yen Press releases the English version of the manga series, the synopsis of the first volume reads:

„Hanako-san, Hanako-san…are you there?“ At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls‘ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san…is a boy!

The third trailer for the anime series was released on December 9:

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun TV anime will be animated at Lerche (Assassination Classroom, given), with director Masaomi Ando (SCHOOL-LIVE!, Scum’s Wish) helming the adaption, screenwriter Yasuhiro Nakanishi (KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju) penning the scripts, character designer Mayuka Ito (chief animation director on Hakumei and Mikochi) looking after the characters, and Yuji Higa as the animation producer for Lerche. The series will premiere on January 9 on TBS.
