Violet Evergarden The Movie Advance Tickets Go on Sale, Side Story Anime Film Blu-ray Gets Dated For Japan

Kyoto Animation masterpiece, Violet Evergarden, sent us a lot of news on January 10 about the upcoming anime film, the home release dates for Violet Evergarden – Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll – anime film, and a rebroadcast of the anime series. January 10 was the original release date for Violet Evergarden The Movie before the arson attack on the studio in July 2019.

Violet Evergarden The Movie is set to be released in Japanese theaters on April 24 with advance tickets, through the KyoAni Shop, currently on sale. The sales period for the ticket started on January 10 and last until April 23, the day before the film releases in Japan. The news post on the website notes that while advance tickets are on sale until that day, you may receive them after the film opens due to delivery.

Buying the advance ticket set through Kyoto Animation will net you two adult tickets to the film (through the mobichike – mobile ticket – service), four A5 illustration cards, and two applications for presents from the “KyoAni movie year 2019-2020” sets. The ticket set is on sale for 3,565 yen (US$32) and will be sent out from mid-April.

Violet Evergarden – Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll – opened in Japanese theaters in September 2019 and was a breakout hit. It was announced through the website for the series on January 10 that the Blu-ray and DVD home release for the film will go on sale March 18 and include:

• A 36-page booklet with cast interviews, columns from Takaaki Suzuki about the setting of the story, and other materials from production
• A 46-page storyboard with commentary from director Haruka Fujita,
• The short novel from author Kana Akatsuki that was previously only available to cinemagoers
• Postcards with the novel’s cover image as well as the theatrical poster
• A special cover drawn by character designer Akiko Takase

The Blu-ray edition will go on sale for 8,000 yen (US$73) with the DVD edition being 7,000 yen (US$64). 

And finally, it was announced that the Violet Evergarden TV anime will be rebroadcast on ABC TV, TOKYO MX, and BS11 from April. There’s no set date on either of the Violet Evergarden films hitting North America as of yet.
