“#Read (a younger, wiser) Andrew Cuomo’s lips”

It’s been a few years, but Gov. Andrew Cuomo clearly needs a reminder of how he saw things in his early days as New York’s chief executive.
Not only has he repeatedly extended much of the “temporary millionaires tax” that was due to sunset during his first term as governor and failed for a decade to address the state mandates that keep local property taxes among the highest in the nation, he recently agreed to new state tax hikes — even though Washington in January dumped tens of billions of dollars on New York.
Back in 2011, we ran this quote for days on end — until Cuomo confirmed our fears and dropped the charade that the millionaires tax was temporary. He’s never looked back, but the rest of us certainly should.
“You are kidding yourself if you think you can be one of the highest-taxed states in the nation, have a reputation for being anti-business — and have a rosy economic future.” — Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Oct. 17, 2011, explaining why he intended to keep his campaign vow and oppose new taxes for New York, including the “millionaires tax.”
