Super Crooks

Netflix had a handful of anime announcements to make at the Annecy Film Festival this week, including another project based on the work of comic writer Mark Millar. The Super Crooks graphic novel by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu is on the way as a Netflix Original with Carole & Tuesday director Motonobu Hori—who also directed an episode of BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad and worked as animator on a bunch of major projects—at the helm.

The series follows two-bit criminal Johnny Bolt as he tackles one last superpowered heist and assembles a team of the world’s greatest criminals to get the job done. Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop) is on series composition, Takafumi Mitani (animation director on My Hero Academia) is handling character designs, and Stanislas Brunet (mechanical design on Macross Delta) is working on concept design for the BONES production.

As for other works from Millarworld, Netflix recently debuted the live-action Jupiter’s Legacy series, but it was canceled after one season.
