“Moon Knight Director Explains Finale’s Alternate Ending”
Director Mohamed Diab revealed that the original plan for Moon Knight’s finale was much more contained than it ended up being.
While it seems that there were some plans to include links to the MCU in Moon Knight, including members of the Eternal team for starters, it appears that the setting of the finale also underwent a change compared to the original idea for the showdown between Moon Knight and Arthur Harrow. According to Diab, the original plan involved the final battle being mostly held inside the chamber of the gods, but that changed to allow more of Egypt’s capital to be included in the show. He told ComicBook.com:
“I remember that the way the whole action sequence at the end was written was completely inside the chamber of the gods, everything… And I just thought, ‘No, we want to see Cairo at night.’ I want to see something outside and it kept developing again. Everyone is chipping in. Everyone is chipping in. So, it’s very hard to take credit unless I remember. So, I don’t remember, but I love it. And I love people saw in episode three Cairo at day and how different it is than the perspective that people know of the desert and stuff and how it looks at night, which is another beauty. I love that about it.”
Moon Knight Fans Are in the Dark About Whether There Will Be a Second Season
Moon Knight was originally pitched to be a limited series, which would tell the self-contained story of Marc Spector and Steven Grant, but as the series came to a close, there were just a few hints that it may not be the end of the story. Along with a post-credit scene that set up a potential second season storyline and a subtle change by Marvel to call the episode a “season finale” rather than the previously used “series finale,” fans began to get excited that a second season could be announced in the same way as Loki’s continuation came about.
However, in recent interviews, Oscar Isaac has suggested that he isn’t aware of any plans for another Moon Knight season being considered in the near future, but we know that Marvel likes to plan long term, and it certainly doesn’t mean that won’t see Isaac back in the role again. For now, fans are content with the story of Moon Knight that has been delivered, and as one of the first supernatural heroes to be introduced, it opens up a whole new path for Marvel Studios to explore with other characters such as Blade and Werewolf by Night.
The entire series of Moon Knight is now available to watch on Disney+, along with the ever-growing catalog of MCU movies and TV shows.
