The Love Live! Twitter account has announced that Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2 will premiere in Japan on July 17. A key visual featuring the original cast with the incoming new additions was released with the announcement.

The first season, which premiered in July 2021, followed five freshmen in the Yuigaoka all-girls high school who form the Liella idol group. The original cast members include Sayuri Date as Kanon Shibuya, Liyuu as Tang Keke, Nako Misaki as Chisato Arashi, Naomi Payton as Sumire Heanna, and Nagisa Aoyama as Ren Hazuki. Meanwhile, the new cast members include Nozomi Suzuhara as Kinako Sakurakoji, Akane Yabushima as Mei Yoneme, Wakana Ookuma as Shiki Wakana, and Aya Emori as Natsumi Onitsuka. 

Like the first season, Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2‘s staff includes Takahiro Kyougoku as director, Jukki Hanada as series composer, Yuuhei Murota as original character designer, Atsushi Saitou as character designer, Reiji Kasuga as art director, Rie Katou as color designer, Yuuki Iinuma as CG director, Tadashi Kitaoka as photography director, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa as music composer. Sunrise is the animation production company.

Love Live! Superstar!! is one of several anime spawned from the Love Live! multimedia franchise that began in 2013. Another Love Live! anime series, Love Live! Nijigasaki, began airing its own second season on April 2, 2022.
