The commander-in-chief hit back at former First Lady Michelle Obama Tuesday morning following her Monday evening headlining speech — blaming her husband’s administration for the country’s current problems.
“Somebody please explain to @MichelleObama that Donald J. Trump would not be here, in the beautiful White House, if it weren’t for the job done by your husband, Barack Obama. Biden was merely an afterthought, a good reason for that very late & unenthusiastic endorsement,” the commander-in-chief tweeted Tuesday morning.
The president continued that, “My Administration and I built the greatest economy in history, of any country, turned it off, saved millions of lives, and now am building an even greater economy than it was before. Jobs are flowing, NASDAQ is already at a record high, the rest to follow. Sit back & watch!”
The pair of tweets marked Trump’s first official response to the former first lady’s speech.
During her speech Monday, Obama was criticized her husband’s successor, calling him “the wrong president for our country” who was “clearly in over his head.”
A short time later, the president issued two more tweets hitting the Obamas.
“Looking back into history, the response by the ObamaBiden team to the H1N1 Swine Flu was considered a weak and pathetic one. Check out the polling, it’s really bad. The big difference is that they got a free pass from the Corrupt Fake News Media!” he wrote in the first of the two posts.
“The ObamaBiden Administration was the most corrupt in history, including the fact that they got caught SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN, the biggest political scandal in the history of our Country. It’s called Treason, and more. Thanks for your very kind words Michelle!” he continued.
Over the course of the evening, after the first night of events, Trump tweeted and retweeted multiple attacks against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, former Ohio Gov. and 2016 GOP presidential hopeful John Kasich.
Cuomo, who decried the Trump administration as “dysfunctional and incompetent,” was slammed by the president in two tweets Monday evening.
In the first, Trump wrote, “Cuomo, just like his brother Fredo, has not got a very good memory!” The tweet was written alongside a video of the New York governor praising the White House response to the coronavirus.
In the second, he referenced the situation at nursing homes in New York state that has left many of the elderly displaced or exposed to the virus.
“Now AP estimates that the real Cuomo number of people killed because of his total incompetence is 11,000, not the 6000 that was originally thought!” he wrote in his second tweet on the governor.
