She revisited songs from her albums Take Me Apart and Raven in an intimate 23-minute set.

Kelela is in a reinterpretive mood. Earlier this month, the electronic R&B singer-songwriter shared RAVE:N, The Remixes, a collection of tracks inspired by her 2023 album (one of our favorites of the year) by artists including Loraine James, Shygirl, Yaeji, and Bambii. She continues that streak today with an appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, backed by a full band: drums, keys, a harp, and two backing vocalists.
The set opens with a stunning performance of “Raven” where waves of newly added harp bolster the song’s Homeogenic vibes. From there we get a taste of “Take Me Apart,” boldy orchestrated as a jazzier cut, followed by “Bank Head,” “Waitin,” “Enough,” “Bluff,” and “The High.” Watch the full performance below.
